Lately, I’ve been watching some wonderful fan made videos, based on the British TV show Doc Martin. Because of that, I’ve discovered some great new (to me) music and have developed an appreciation for the editing process in the videos that the fans have created, to the point that when I’m driving and listening to the radio, I often think in terms of video editing. I can see the scenes paired with specific musical phrases.
Here are a few of my favorite fan made videos.
A Thousand Years (about Doc Martin and Louisa)
No Other Love (also about the Doc and Louisa)
And this oldie, but goodie From This Moment (about my favorite Nanny, Fran and Maxwell)
And this one called Lost (about a favorite old TV sitcom called The Ghost and Mrs. Muir)
I have some great Star Trek (TNG) stuff too, featuring Captain Picard and Dr. Crusher. I should just wear a big letter L on my forehead.
Sorry to be such a sappy romantic, but I love this sh*t

I usually really dislike these… except for the fact that this one about Community’s Jeff and Annie led to an actual scene in the show, which parodied the shipping video. So brilliant. Looks like the better-quality version was taken off YouTube, which is really too bad.
@glacial That Community parody was one of my favorite things from the show! And I have a lot of favorite things from that show.

When I was in art school, there was a kickass program that combined animation, filmmaking, and video art. I’m really kicking myself for not taking at least one or two courses of that, because my brain always does that and I know literally nothing about film editing. It would be nice to at least be able to combine my favorite songs and images.
I’ve seen a lot of fanvids like the “Gravity” Community one, where it’s ~romantic moments between the characters set to mushy music. My favorites are ones that do something clever with the original movie, like The Shining as a comedy. I also like this Inception fanvid, because it’s from Ariadne’s perspective. She was my favorite character in the movie, and her scenes had a sense of discovery about them that you don’t see in the movies too often. This video is more about her character than romance, and the editing is really cool.
@Haleth That’s so funny – I just posted that Shining trailer to a friend a week ago!
