What question did you write that was completely misunderstood?

Asked by JLeslie (65790points) October 28th, 2013

Do you have a question that people completely misunderstood and they made you out to be a horrible person? What was it about? Feel free to explain and bitch about it here, or if you are brave enough you can provide a link to the question. I understand if you don’t want to link it, because it might wake up the Q.

I don’t think I have, yet at least.
You’re not a bad person @JLeslie. I understood what you were trying to say, I think most others did too.
I assume this is loosely based on your question from yesterday?

Honestly, I had no idea where you were going with that question about welfare, so I just decided to throw my input on welfare in and see if was relevant or if it helped you at all. It seems like you were misunderstood in that question, but I was just confused, not mislead.

I don’t think I have had a question where I was completely misunderstood, but I can tell you from experience with Fluther that if I have a question that I am not sure about, I will mull it over for days or even weeks, or maybe not ever ask it at all. I also try my best, when asking a question or answering one, to very clearly explain what I am trying to say. I don’t want people upset at me and then me having to defend myself. I try not to be hasty when typing out things. It’s for that reason that I will sometimes wait till a Q is dead until I answer. I may want to put my input down, but won’t want to be quick about it, so it may be days until I can get to it in a proper, clear, concise fashion.

A couple of my questions have gone like that. If I ask a random question, most people assume it is about me, and lecture me. If a question is about me, I say it is. Someone else asked a question quite sensitive and not one person asked her if it was about her. I wanted to ask, but she is quite a volatile person and didn’t need the hassle at the time.

I have and I have also had answers I posted that were not understood at all. I guess that is communication for you!

It seems that plain English has fallen out of fashion on this site, and that Social breeds people who want to “fix” your question more than answer it. Super tiresome.
