Who still uses IRC?

Asked by bolwerk (10352points) October 29th, 2013

Internet relay chat. mIRC is the most famous client, but there are others.

Remember it? Anyone still use it? Where do you go? What network? What channel?

I do remember it yes, I was using it about 6 or 7 years ago. I don’t fully understand mIRC but I did hear that it is Undernet? Anyway I had some great chats on there and loved the ability to create pretty patterns in chat! I am quite interested in Undernet just because I am curious :)

I enjoyed mIRC very much but that was over ten years ago. Between facebook, Fluther and a few correspondents I have met along the way I do not have the time or energy to return to IRC.

@LornaLove: UnderNet is a network you use mIRC with, sort of like how www.google.com is a website you connect to with your browser. I don’t use UnderNet and mIRC has become nagware. ChatZilla may be a convenient free alternative.

I use it all the time. Freenode and Quakenet mostly, and I can usually be found in the sports channels.
