What did your children do for Halloween?
Or nieces/nephews or cousins or neighbors or friends.
Did they do traditional “trick or treat”? Did they do “trunk or treat”? Did they go to some sort of party or event? Or did they not celebrate Halloween?

It’s still Halloween here. My teenage children are at the 1925 movie palace downtown watching The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Here they don’t have holiday for Halloween. She has a Halloween party in school,no costumes, just snacks and maybe movies or programs. The kindergarten kids often go “trick or treating” around campus.
Started out with a trunk or treat at the preschool, where they visit each parent’s car for the treats, since candy isn’t allowed inside the school.
They made the rounds at Grandpa’s office from 3 to 4 pm then came over to Grandma’s house for dinner. Mom and Dad fell asleep, so Grandma took them to the mall for the rounds there from 5 pm to 6 pm.
Mom, Dad and the 6 year old went home. The 4 year old then gave out treats until we ran out. He really enjoyed his job, and loudly announced Hot Cocoa as he put each packet in the bags. He frequently ran outside and yelled “trick or treats here, come on over”
After we ran out, we removed the lights and decorations on the fence and closed the gate. Then we put away a few more pieces of decorations and came in to watch TV. He fell asleep on the floor about a half hour later.
Mama and Ian got all dolled up (I forsaked the blood, since there was no grownup party in the plan. I’ve spent too many Halloween nights making babies cry) and we walked to the few decorated houses in our neighborhood until daddy got home.
Then, we strategically attacked various upper middle class neighborhoods we had scouted over the past week, dumping his pumpkin bucket in between neighborhoods.
We got a pretty good haul this year, with a few special surprises. Gotta love it when someone’s giving candy to the kids and beer to mom and dad. Score!
Here’s a local article that explains Trunk or Treat
..tends to be church sponsored and good for very young kids or people who live in rural areas.
We live rural – but around here people just load the kids up on a hay wagon with a tractor or ATV pulling them along and the kids jump off (as the houses are spread far apart) and run down the long driveways to trick-or-treat.
This year was rainy/misty a bit..so we used our car instead.
But first we started with a sort of family dinner party (grandparents came over, and our son’s friend and the friend’s parents..plus our family of 5.. so we had about 10 people for a nice dinner I whipped up with lots of garlic (vampire abatement program!).. spaghetti & meatballs, pizza, garlic bread, garlic sauteed green beans..
The older two girls (high school & middle school aged) handed out candy and our youngest (4th grader) went trick-or-treating with his best buddy.. I drove the boys while my hubby cleaned up the dinner mess. The buddy’s mom & dad came along for the ride (..which made it fun for me..while the kids ran door to door we chatted and took pictures).
We have some neighbors that go really all out..like build a trail all through their yard and porch..so we went there and a nearby n’hood where the houses are a little bit closer together than ours.
Both the older girls had Halloween parties they went to (or hosted) last weekend..so last night was more about family and the meal w/ their grandparents.
We had a tornado warning in the area, so Halloween trick or treating is TONIGHT instead of last night. We did go to the Children’s museum’s haunted house in the day time. But for the most part, we just stayed in and hoped the roof would stay on.
Take care of their children.
We took my son trick or treating around a couple streets. It was his first time out and it was pouring rain but he really enjoyed the experience. He had a blast.
We took them to Los Gatos, CA for the big Halloween street celebration.
The weather was MUCH better tonight. I am glad they postponed the holiday. We just finished our little neighborhood and now we’re handing out candy.
My daughter went to a rich persons neighborhood and got whole candy bars, not just bite sized pieces.
@rarebear – your kid has friends with rich parents too, I see.
