“Strangers on a Train”?
Because there’d be no discernible link between the victim and the anonymous killer. The real murderer would have a perfect alibi – he’d leave no DNA evidence at the site of the crime, and he could account for his presence, elsewhere, when the murder occurred. Unless someone could establish the true murderer’s connection to the hit man, the case might be impossible to solve.
The suspect could be a sociopath. This might be one of the behaviors.
The only good reason to use a hit-man is when you have a clear motive to murder the victim. You’d know the police are going to make you a person of interest. So by outsourcing, you have a perfect alibi, you leave no inculpatory evidence behind, you have no murder weapon and can’t be tied to it if it’s found.
Personally, I’ve never hired anyone to kill someone for me. :-)
