Honestly, I’ve never seen the movie, but my #1 goes to Rhett and Scarlet, because, “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn.” A line to love.
Rob and Laura Petrie. The parents I always wanted to have.
Lucy and Ricky. (Ethel and Ralph)
ANYONE but Roseanne!
@jonblond and @blondesjon.
Tracy and Hepburn in “Woman of the Year” and “Desk Set.”
Also the writer and cleaning woman in “Love, Actually. ”
Darrin and Samantha from “Bewitched.” I love that old show, I watch Netflix seasons of it. Agnes Moorehead was THE funniest woman ever in that series. I plan on being her, and already kinda am. Offbeat, outspoken and have a flair for zippy dressing. lol
Grant and Hepburn in Philadelphia Story.
Bogart and Bergman in Casablanca.
Fillion and Baccarin in Serenity.
I don’t get terribly invested in romantic narratives…but I do think Holmes and Watson are a fantastic duo. And if you want to ship that I’ve got no problem with it.
Bogart and Bergman in Casablanca.
I might have gone with Nick and Nora from the Thin Man series, but later in the series he starts calling her Mommy, and that just weirds me out.
@fundevogel I don’t think Holmes would have a problem with it, either. ;)
Archie and Mehitabel
The owl and the pussycat
Abelard and Heloise
Tristan and Isolde
Dagwood, Durwin, DumDum, Darwin, Derwood,...Oh crap..I have to get my Endora infusion again soon. lol
@Kardamom That particular version doesn’t appeal to me in the sense that I watched one episode and had no remorse going back to Moffat and Ritchie’s takes. I’ve read little of the original stories but in my memory it was the chemistry between the two and not the mystery that was most rewarding.
@glacial I sorta like the scuttlebutt that Cumbatch’s Sherlock is asexual, though everyone has a right to their own headcanon.
@fundevogel I can dig that he doesn’t have a lot of room in his very busy mind for romantic entanglements, but between comments made in the pilot and his dalliance with Irene Adler, I don’t think I could think of him as asexual.
@fundevogel I love both of the new Sherlock Holmes shows.
Yes, Benedict Cumberbatch is portrayed as being asexual although you come to find that he had very strong feelings about the well known character, Miss Adler, but in this version, he admires her mind (although you’re not exactly sure whether or not they had a sexual thing too, but most likely not, she’s just a super brainiac just like him).
Part of what I love about Elementary, is exactly what you are describing, chemistry. The two characters have not hooked up in any way, shape or form (yet, and may never) but the chemistry between them is smokin’! And not just in a sexual/romantic way, in the best way of all, kind of like Butch and Sundance.
Historical: Socrates and Alcibiades.
Literary: Elandra and Caelan in Deborah Chester’s Ruby Throne trilogy.
Film: Adam Sandler’s character and Emily Watson’s character in Punch Drunk Love.
TV: Tough call between The Monarch and Dr. Mrs. The Monarch in The Venture Bros. and Spike and Julia in Cowboy Bebop.
@glacial Asexuality is part of a range, like the Kinsey scale. And romanticism and asexuality aren’t actually mutually exclusive. It’s a big grey umbrella really. Whatever there was between him and Adler, it doesn’t rule out asexuality for me.
@Kardamom You perfectly summed up my thoughts on the Sherlock/Adler relationship there. I appreciate that as intelligent and private as they both are, even in the tell-all medium of television, what exactly they have between them is kept between them.

@naynay86 I didn’t see that (maybe I will now) it looked very sweet. Did you see Nights in Rodanthe with Richard Gere and Diane Lane? If anyone has seen it, don’t give it away. Great movie!
Yes, I have seen all the Nicholas Sparks movies, I am a huge fan. I will say they are all great, with the exception of The Lucky One with Zac Efron-I was disappointed, I actually fell asleep in the theater it was that bad!

I LOVE AMY FARRAH FOWLER SO HARD!
@Katniss I loooooove Say Anything!! I always said that if a man stood outside my window blasting a boombox he was my dream man! lol…I think that is one of the most romantic scenes in a movie!
I do not know how I could have forgotten my favorite couple ever!!
Michael E Knight and Cady McClain (Tad and Dixie) from All My Children.
No, seriously, the actress who plays Amy Farrah Fowler is Mayin Bialik. She’s a) totally hot. b) actually a neuroscientist, and c) apart from her bizarre aversion to modern medicine, is really cool for her activism for attachment parenting and earth-friendliness. I want to be her friend.
@Seek_Kolinahr I loved her on Blossom, and I love her even more on TBBT!
I forgot @Coloma and Marwyn, @janbb and Frodo, and @chyna and Jessie.

@Pachyderm_In_The_Room If I had a dollar for every time I said or thought, ”We’ll never get any older, and we’ll never die.” I could pay cash for that new car I want.
