How do I connect "Jack" to H2 drummachine?
I get this message at the opening of the program: “Jack driver: error in port register”, which blocks me from editing the sequences i’ve composed and making new ones.
I haven’t a clue what to do and the forum language is too cryptic for my current understanding.

What computer and OS are you running?
an acer aspire one netbook and Ubuntu, Unity
What are your Audio System settings set to for the drum machine? ASIO, Wave Out, Direct Sound, etc?
please tell me how the heck i can find out
There should be a preferences tab for your h2. It would be under the main audio settings.
yes, only this “error” message impedes me from doing basically anything, that is also opening a window after having emptily selected an option in a tab.
found this on a thread:
change the jack port name from alsa_pcm to system as per the following:
system:playback_1
system:playback_2
USE_JACK_TRANSPORT
true
true
Says that the default was set to false, so..
You think it could help my case?
Here’s where I found the proposed solution
pardon my sounding overly concerned with, perhaps, a an overestimated matter, but.. will my tracks be safe?
Of, course, I’m aware the .hsong files are tidily saved, but this happened while I was working on my last one. Precisely when I dragged and dropped an empty instrument file from a drumkit (library) in the instruments’ rack onto the library in use, it clogged. and the friendly little msg came popping up, every time I dismissed it, like an immortal mushroom.
I’m not familiar with the backup capability of the software you are using but I record a lot of shit using Reaper and it saves whatever I am working on in real time as I go. A quick check of the folder that H2 saves to should let you know.
Downloading h2 right now. Gonna run it with jack and see what it does for me.
Went to sleep last night with the same desperation in my brows that I had waking up this morning up to before I read your providential reply.
Glad you’re helping, beejay
So.. a priority this morning amongst the chattering noises of the early-waking kids was to figure out what to do with h2. I’m managing to open some windows now and i see that under tools> preferences> audio system settings were on “auto”. I selected JACK but i didn’t restart the driver, but it stayed slected anyway when i reopened the window.
