Were any of our Askville new comers ever members of Wis.dm?

Sorry, I’ve never heard of it.
I was only on Askville. During The Time of the Great Troubles on Askville (complete format change) I joined Fluther. Shortly thereafter I dropped off the face of the social internet for a couple of years. When I came back, I came to Askville, then that ship sunk.
Is Wis.dm where you came to Fluther from?
Yes. Wis.dm sunk too. It was a sad, sad day.
How well we former Askvillers know. Were you given warning, or did Wis.dm just slam the door and turn out the lights, too?
We heard rumbles but….you can’t imagine it would really happen. Everyone started leaving. You’d go back now and again to check, and it would be slow and sloggy and almost no one there. Like a giant, empty, echoing mansion. Then the day came when it was not found. I actually cried a little! It was my very first experience with a social site.
Never heard of Wis.dm either. I only used AV and dabbled a little at AbeBooks.
Welcome to Fluther Ya’ll!
That’s sad @Dutchess_III. About 15–20 or so of us were there when Askville sank. I’ll admit to a tear. And it was SO frustrating not being able to contact or warn the people not logged on.
I thought today about sending an email to Amazon about the injustice.
It’s too bad you had no warning. Why don’t you start an Askville page on FB?
Facebook scares me. I had a very poor experience with it. A LOT of the other former members are there, though.
If it wasn’t for other users, I wouldn’t have even known until it was too late. I caught a late post by Valerie111. Otherwise, I probably wouldn’t be here.
I’m sorry the demise of the site drove you here, but I’m mighty happy to see you. The new faces/voices are a facelift for Fluther, methinks. Welcome to you all!
Thanks @Dutchess_III & @picante.
I have to admit you got a few of the best from Askville, including Juels. Some bright, happy people. :-)
I peeked there a few times but av was my place, came here for awhile and back to av.
In a fb group with some old av’ers
I’ve only been to Askville. I made an account at Ask.com but haven’t spend that much time there yet. It’s not really a social site but they get a serious amount of questions.
Okay, @Skippy. I don’t vividly remember you?
I have an account at Ask.com, too, @Valerie111, I think. I know I joined another Q&A site and it was just too hectic and different.
I actually saw a link to Askville today while googling an answer on how to block a number on a cell for someone who was overreacting and threatening to call the cops over repeated wrong numbers.
I’m not surprised, @Mitsu_Neko. There for a time it really seemed like Amazon you using Askville to deflect people from true customer service. I bet there’ll be links hanging out here and there for years. After all, Askville LASTED 7 years.
It was a wacky 7 years. I joined about 5 years or more back.
I was there 6, I think. What was your screen name there? I remember the Avatars so much better. :-)
I always went by Mits or Mitsu with about 8 million last names (ironic since tech Mitsu is my last name in proper Japanese tradition of surname then given name).
Even I have only used Askville. I joined Fluther the day Askville shut down.
