I don’t do it in bed, but I read before bed every night. Falling asleep without reading at least a little bit beforehand would be darn near impossible for me.

Right now, I’m rereading Under the Dome, but wish I were reading what you’re reading!

There’s a way that I could share it with you, but you would have to read it online.

Yes I suffer from insomnia. I am reading ‘A Cat Named Bob’. It is about a homeless man who befriends a cat in London. It’s a true story about these two throw away souls making it in life day by day.

It’s a nice thought, @Mama_Cakes, but I can’t handle reading whole books online. Heck, I don’t even watch TV shows or movies online. :)

Always, as long as I can remember. Right now I’m rereading Game of Thrones.

I do, every night, for about an hour.

My bedtime reading ranges over a very broad spectrum. At the moment it happens to be Ivanhoe. I found myself an old edition, from the 1930s, so it feels right.

Just starting Dances with Dragons, having waited very, very, very, very patiently for it to come out in paperback.

About half of the time.  Depends how sleepy I am.  Currently I’m reading Bertrand Russell’s ABC of Relativity and an old Norwegian grammar book.  I’ve been a fan of Russell for a long while and I’m sorta of loving Alf Sommerfelt for actually delivering no bullshit language knowledge in a practical and effective manner.

Every night. Right now I am reading a 1930s edition of Huckleberry Finn.

Yup, I do every night before I go to sleep. Right now, I’m reading Jagged by Kristen Ashley. She’s my favorite author and just came out with a new book.

I read a lot. Not before bed though. Last time I read before bed, was when my mum used to read to me.

Every night, or I can’t sleep! I have to read something familiar to fall asleep to. I’ve tried to read a new book, but I get wrapped up in the story and don’t fall asleep.

Currently, my bedtime book is “Scarlet Feather,” by Maeve Binchy.

I read a little bit in bed almost every night, on my Kindle. Right now it’s Nothing But Blue Skies by Thomas McGuane.

I read in bed every night. Sometimes I last 5 minutes, sometimes an hour or two. If I’m serious about reading, I loll across the bed rather than get in it…I can read all day that way.

Right now I’m reading a book that was written (and apparently self published) by a guy from my small hometown. I’ve never seen anything like it—the type is typewriter, like an essay gone wild. VERY interesting, the way it veers from ‘scraped potato mush’ being a folk cure for a skin boil to the location of the first ice house in town.

Before that, it was Scott Turow’s “Burden of Proof”. Before that was “Book of Lies”. Next I have an historical perspective of slavery in my region. I might need a Janet Evanovich or Robert B. Parker after that.

My shelf space is too precious for books, so I have the potential reads stacked in an odd corner, probably 3 foot tall and 3–4 stacks. Local history books have a shelf all their own.

:-)

It’s about the only time I do have to read, so I get my herbal tea and read for a half hour or so.

This is the worst possible time for me to be reading, in terms of trying to get anything from the material. I’m usually so wiped at this point that I end up reading the same passages multiple times because my focus is shot.

Ironically, I’m now reading Daniel Golman’s new book, Focus

The only thing I read before bed is my computer screen. I read books on my two-hours-a-day commute (by bus) to work and back. Currently I’m reading Frankenstein.

I’m reading Robert Peston’s book How Do We Fix this Mess. It is interesting, but pretty effective at sending me off to sleep.

In the days I could hold a book I definitely read in bed at night, wouldn’t miss it and @ibstubro I totally identify with your comment… “I loll across the bed rather than get in it…I can read all day that way.” Those were the days…

ibstubro's avatar

I spent a day that way recently, @Adagio. Been having a bit of back trouble, so I just took a day and read a Turow book.

:)

@ibstubro just what the doctor ordered by the sounds of it : ^)

Unlike most of the readers in this thread, I read comic books on my laptop in bed before sleep. usually 2–3, for about half-an-hour. I tend to read regular ol’ books right after I wake up, as a way to allow my eyes to adjust before getting back in front of the computer screen for work/school.

I read in bed too. Since the advent of Frodo that is about my only reading time. Right now I am about to start the new Elizabeth Gilbert novel which Gail kindly sent me.
