Askvillagers, are you a dog person or a cat person?

Can’t I love both? Sadie (loveable mutt), Martin (affectionate three-legged cat), and I live together in blissful harmony.

Martin isn’t aloof, moody, a loner, or any of those so-called cat attributes. He runs to greet me at the door when I come hoome, and he curls up and cuddles with me whenever I sit or lie down. He’s a living Teddy Bear.

I love all animals but I’m definitely a dog person. Cats are cute but they like to be left alone a lot. Dogs are cuddly, give more affection, likes to play, and all that.

I have cat whiskers and a feline tendency to stretch luxuriously. I am also independent with sensitive felines. But wait! I have wagging tail when I’m happy, and a goofy way of coming when I am called, and being exceedingly devoted. Guess I’m a hybrid of both.

I adore both kitties and dogs. I have had both. Now I have 2 sweet puppies who have melted my heart like butta…..I’m dead meat. They have me wrapped around their little paws and pretty much own me.

Sigh….there are worst things.

I’m not an AV’er, and I’ve always been a dog person. But recently I’ve met a cat that took my heart away. She’s not aloof, she’s loving, and she is beautiful.

Wtf is Askvillage? Does this question not apply to me? I love cats.

I’m answering anyway as a cold-hearted, cruel person who loves cats more.

I had one cat which never got on the couch without asking first. Whenever I’d lie on the floor she’d massage my back for me. Every single time I showered she worried so, and cried until the water went off. Before her, there was Shiffer. His full name was Shiffer Brains. Heis favorite pasttime was stretching out on my belly, put his paws around my neck and purr in my ear. Angus loved riding with me in my convertable with the top down. I trained Hooter to attack on command. People thought I was joking about that, but he saved my life when a rapist was trying to break in. He turned the guy into hamburger, then came home and stayed curled up next to me the rest of the night.
I miss my cats a lot. I got my long ago husband a dog. He named it Fred. The damn thing was huge, and wouldn’t let my husband within six feet of me. We had to keep him chained, with a log chain attached to a post buried four feet underground until we could get him a new owner. I can’t even think about the pee trickles on the walls which started from four feet off the ground.
Nowadays, I live in a rental where I’m not allowed pets, but we enjoy the deer, turkeys, squirrels and birds which wander through.
I’m considered a pretty caring person by most who know me.
I forgive you for your mean spirited reference to cats.
What I can’t forgive you for is that big ugly, boogie you got hanging, no, right there.

Mmm, I’ve seen this question here about a thousand times, but I never tire of admitting I have deep, abiding felines feelings for kitties, and in particular, my own little guy. He gives me endless pleasure.

I like dogs, except for the two who live in the back yard next door and bark at me constantly. My cat never barks at anybody.

I love dogs. I love cats. I love all animals. I want a micro pig and a monkey. My fiancé says “hell no!” to both. He’s no fun. lol

Like @Coloma, I love all animals. I was always jealous of Ellie May Clampett because she was rich and got to hang out with her animals all day, oh and jealous of the lady in the commercials who got the cool black panther, too.

@Katniss I’m with you on the little pigs, so stinkin cute. My hubs says no, too.

I love them both, but dogs are my favorite and honestly I’ve only had dogs so far. They are the best pets you can have and they fit so easily into our lives.

@Katniss Oh jeez..my ex husband was such a weenie about my animals. He only liked cats and a pet rat, but I wanted geese, horses, chickens, bunnies, parrots, on and on. ( We had 5 acres ) He did build me a huge and awesome bunny hutch and chicken coops and really cute goose barns with little picket fences around them but, he was such an asshole about the animals. he was JEALOUS of my love for them.
He LOVED to show off his carpentry skills to everyone but behind closed doors he was a dick about things.

When I divorced him I told my therapist that he used to say ( like a two year old ) ” you love that damn goose more than ME!”
She just laughed and said ” You probably DID!” lol

Ahem, dogs are the fucking pet masters, always have been, always will.
Cats are essentially ornamental, slightly educated minions.

Just saw the question…both. When I was a kid, at one time we had 14 German Shepherd’s and about 30 cats.

I don’t currently have a pet, but if I did it would be a cat. Cats just aren’t as needy.

I think ucme has never had a cat.

I know that Nimis is wrong, my daughter asked for & received a cat around a year or so ago.
