Like for appearing in printed advertisements and such. My brother has a very good face…he also has a mental disability which robs him off a normal future…
He is normal but he was in special ed and was never able to get a high school diploma. It was impossible for him to do.
I was thinking he could earn a living by becoming a model…
He is 18 years old.

Both male and female models tend to be very slim in stature. I know for females, the body type that makes an ideal model is very rare – long neck, long arms, small breasts, small hips, long lanky legs. Male models, similar – thin legs, thin stomach, nice abdomen. This is all in addition to having handsome or beautiful faces, good, straight teeth, nice noses, nice cheekbones, a good jawline. It’s rare for someone to have all of these qualities.
Have professional photos done and create a zed card or comp card. You then mail it out to all the talent agencies in your area. You will probably get a few calls and you will have to choose an agent. The agent gets a percentage of everything he earns and if he hires a manager they will get a percentage as well.
My nephew did some modeling for a while. He was in LA. The one problem he had was that everyone thought he was gay. He had never had people pressuring him about being gay until he got serious about modeling. I don’t know if it’s the same everywhere but he found that part really odd. He’s not homophobic or anything but people just wouldn’t take “no, I’m straight” for an answer.
Do you live in a large enough metropolitan area that he can get enough work?
Get his portfolio done. A model’s portfolio is the main route to modeling. Presentation, quality and variety of shots are the major factors to be considered. Photographs are the most important part of a portfolio.
The portfolio should have a terrific beginning, a strong middle and a sensational ending. It should display his strengths to potential clients and show what he would be capable of selling, be it clothes, cars or any other products. Contact reputable modeling agencies and if they like the photos, they’ll call him and guide him through the next steps.
It’s either a question of luck or hard work. If you have both then you are in perfect position to be a model. Although only some people manage to really make living while working as models.
I used to watch America’s Next Top Model. I don’t remember which season it was, but there was a girl on there that was a size 5. They considered her to be a plus size model. WTF??
My guess is being thin is a requirement. Apparently looks aren’t as important because some of those girls were oogly! lol
I see plus size models are usually like size 10. They’re not fat by society’s standards, usually. They may be large but not usually fat.
I wish I knew. I was told to go into modeling, but it’s hard when you don’t know of a reputable agency or have connections. I’m probably a size 6 or 8. Wish him luck with it.
Just take a couple good, clear photographs of him and go with him to a reputable modeling agency. They know what they are looking for and will pay for the real photographs, and anything else. They take a percentage- my daughter was solicited on a busy street and they paid for her photographs, modeling card, all flights, rooms, etc. they took 30%.
