I have just graduated with a Bachelor degree in primary Education and I was looking forward to doing my Masters in two years and then moving to the U.S, but now I am seeing some really interesting degrees that is offered by the same University. One in particular that I am looking at is a Bachelor in ICT. I am now tempted to go along that route instead of going for my Masters in Education. Do any of you have two or more degrees and is it worthwhile to have these qualifications? Is going after a second degree a waste of valuable time?

Yes.,if you don’t know right now what you want definitely than further education is not worth it. If you want a job teaching then you need an edge, in Alberta we have 1,800 new teaching certificates and 1 or two new jobs. The only group of teachers who are hired are special education teachers and male role models in the early grades.
What is ICT?
Basically, if the ICT leads you in an entirely different career direction for which you feel more passionate and the Bachelor’s is all you need, then go for it. Your recent credits in some of your courses will probably cross over. If you would need a graduate degree for a career in ICT, then apply for the graduate program and they will have you take only the necessary pre-requisite undergrad courses you need in order to matriculate.
@hearkat I believe it’s Information and Communication Technology, an IT-type degree.
I admit it – I googled it.
ICT is information technology. From getting that degree, it does not necessarily mean that I would be doing something entirely different. I can use that degree with my previous degree to teach secondary school in the country that I am in. I am not saying that I am not passionate about teaching, in fact I love teaching, but this course seems really interesting and a degree in IT could open doors for me in the future if I get tired with the whole teaching thing. Feelings change in life and I always believe that it is good to be prepared.
Your comment just above this one, plus @hearkat,‘s gives you your answer, I think. Anyway, as my dad used to say, there’s usually a back door—so if that path doesn’t feel right after a while, you can go back to where you left off, right?
In general an MA trumps two BAs as far as advancing a career is concerned.
Many employers won’t care what the masters is in as long as you have it.
If you can afford to postpone entering the job market for the two years it takes, why not? Learning new things and having more qualifications for anything is never a waste of time.
Why not give your first degree a chance before you pursue a second degree? If you teach school for a couple of years or so, you’ll know whether you enjoy the job and are a good fit for it. If no, you can put yourself on a dramatically different path by studying ICT. If yes, you’d might do better by obtaining an M.S. in education.
