@VikR105 – We’ve talked about this previously. Schedule a checkup with your dentist and have the TMJ checked by them. You could ask them to refer you to a TMJ specialist.

Did your ENT’s office perform an audiological evaluation, including impedance measures of middle ear function? If not, you may want to look for an Audiologist that specializes in tinnitus, or find a Tinnitus Support Group in your area. ATA.org lists support groups and is a valuable resource for tinnitus sufferers.

@heatkat yea my ent ran that test and told me to see a tmj specialist now. I’m waiting on them to call me back with an appointment. At this point the anxiety is killing me more than anything.

Can you explain in further detail what you are anxious about? Anxiety is a big problem for health care because it exacerbates the patient’s reaction to their condition. Some of the more progressive tinnitus treatment programs incorporate mental health professionals to address the anxiety, while the Audiologists address the auditory factors.

I might be able to direct you to a program near you if you could let me know what area you live.

@hearkat the anxity is coming from the hiss sound. I feel like what if it doesn’t go away. All I’m doing is thinking about the tmj and hiss sound. I’m also dealing with my wife being diagnosed with cancer. She is almost done with treatment so this is where the grinding in my teeth came from. Always stressed out

^^ Do you mean Hartsdale? If so, there are many very sophisticated medical resources in White Plains or in the city. (Sorry about your miseries and your wife.)

Anxiety, stress and TMJ to go hand in hand. When we are anxious or stressed it is natural to clench our jaws and possibly even grind the teeth. A good chiropractor can help you with some anti-anxiety remedies to ward off the stress that is bound to come with the condition. Behavioral therapy helps in relieving stress to a great extent and it also works to get rid of clenching or bruxism.
