Why does my screen keep saying, "Disconnected" then, "Connected?"?

Asked by Aster (20028points) November 27th, 2013

This has happened before . The keyboard batteries are not old. It is so maddening because I’ll be typing fast then it’ll just stop typing and I’ll see, “disconnected.” I wait for 20 seconds then it says, “connected.” It does this for hours a day.

Ignore the spammer ^^ above.

Do you have a wireless mouse? Is that working?

How did you resolve it before? And is this a “disconnect” indicating what is disconnecting? Or are you having wireless network issues?

@zenvelo thanks. Yes; wireless mouse works fine. And I don’t remember if I resolved it before or if it just resolved itself.
It , the on screen thingie, indicates the keyboard is disconnecting.

Try going to the keyboard manufacturers web page and update your drivers.
Also sometimes just turning the computer off and waiting a few minutes and restarting will shake out the gremlins.

@Tropical_Willie the problem after restarting is 99% solved. Thank you!
