My favorite is God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen but I also have a soft spot for Bowie and Bing doing The Little Drummer Boy.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it SNOW! and it IS, 5:38 pm in the Sierras and we’re going to get dumped on tonight! Yay!
I’ve always liked Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer.
^^^ Haha…Santa baby, hurry down my chimney tonight!
Baby it’s Cold Outside
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Pretty much every song on the Home Alone soundtracks.
@Coloma Why don’t Santa and Missus Claus have any children? He only cums once a year and that’s down a chimney.
Like everything, my “favourite” is a moving target.
Right now, it’s Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s The World that She Sees
My answer is the same as it was last week when this question was asked:
The Christmas Song, I’ll Be Home for Christmas, and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
I can’t seem to link to the song specifically but here’s the sound click page
I think I like Shepherd’s Lullaby best, but I kind of Like Lone Star Christmas a lot.
I may be prejudiced because he’s my brother but they ARE really good Christmas songs.
I hate all Christmas music.
GREAT QUESTION! I like “marshmallow world”, singing the twelve days of christmas in its entirety to unsuspecting friends, i really like “white christmas” the really boppy version that goes “ayiyiyiyiyiyiyi’m dreaming….of a whiiiiiiiiite CHRRIIIIIStmas!”....i like Blue Christmas by Elvis….i like almost all of them. I think people that despise Christmas music are grinches.
@deni I’m with you. Grinches, bite us.
@Adirondackwannabe hahaha yeah! I do understand it being overplayed though….I think it’s best to hold off on it until about 2 weeks before Christmas, and then just go at it FULL FORCE! Then you can really enjoy it and not be sick of it, plus you are in the jolly Christmas spirit at that point.
@deni Well then, I want “A Mistress For Christmas”, AC/DC
Anything on this album. We’re not grinches, really – we just work retail.
Most definitely Bing Crosby’s version of “White Christmas.”
God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen, and God Rest You Merry People All.
@Blondesjon, I love the Bingle-Bowie version of Little Drummer Boy too. I think we may be in a minority about that. I find it increasing touching as I get older, partly because Bing passed away not long after he taped this special.
And THEN there was this goofy, dead-on Will Ferrell & John C. Reilly parody of the Bing-Bowie duet.
Lo, How A Rose E’re Blooming
Unfortunately, I have not found a YouTube video that does the song justice.
@hearkat, that one makes me cry. It’s so beautiful.
@gondwanalon have you checked out the Ren & Stempy Christmas album? You should.
After I saw “Love, Actually” the first time a few years ago I added “All I Want for Christmas is You” to my favorites list. And I think this article
suggesting that this 19-year old song may have been be the last great new Christmas song written is correct, at least in the U.S.
Nobody has listed “I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas!” I can’t believe it! That’s a classic!
