Is it possible to get pregnant on the Depo Provera shot? And if so will it harm the fetus?

I got the shot last month for the first time and lately I’ve been having a lot of symtoms (nausea, heartburn, fatigued…). I’ve take several test and they were all negative but I’ve gotten pregnant before and had to get a blood test because of false negatives. I also made an appointment with my doc.

I think there’s something like a 0.3% chance of it failing you. And as far as I know there’s never been any documented case of a fetus been harmed in that .3%. You’re wise to consult your doctor, but I don’t think you’ve anything to worry about however.
I can’t remember for the life of me remember where I heard the 0.3 from, but I know it’s right. I’ll see if I can find it out for you though. brb
EDIT: Yeah, for perfect use the risk of it not working are 0.3% for perfect use, and 3% for typical use. Good odds to my mind.
As far as the fetus being harmed, the only problem is for women who are exposed to it during pregnancy, possibly resulting in low birth weight of the newborn. So from my understanding if you don’t have it injected after conception, all should be well, sunny and rosy with the world.
Wikipedia have quite a decent account of this.
Good luck at the docs, tell him/her I said hi.
Thanks for your answer. We already have a 5 month old and we wanted to put some space between the next baby.
A friend of mine has gotten pregnant twice, while on the Depo. Seems like you have nothing to worry about if you’ve taken tests, etc. I am also on the shot and have felt nauseous, and tired as well but my doctor said it was just a few of the side effects.
