Q: I have heard that some companies just bottle tap water and say it is spring water. Is your CRYSTAL GEYSER® ALPINE SPRING WATER® really spring water?
A: Our water is really natural spring water. As the very first step in finding a location for bottling, we search for the highest quality and most protected spring and aquifer sources. We then determine whether we can build a plant onsite.
All of our plants are built at the spring sources. They are located: near Olancha Peak, in the Sierra Nevada; near Mt. Shasta in Weed, California; near the mountains in the Cherokee National Forest in Benton, Tennessee; near the Blue Ridge Mountains in Salem, South Carolina; near the Ossipee Mountains of Moultonborough, New Hampshire, Ouachita Mountain range of Norman, Arkansas and near the Adirondack Park of Johnstown, New York. We do not bottled municipal water at any of our locations.
Q: Can you send me a Bottled Water Report which shows analysis for the source of the water?

Q: Do chemicals leach from your CRYSTAL GEYSER® ALPINE SPRING WATER® if the bottles are stored in the sun or in a hot car?
A: No. Claims that plastic bottled water containers stored in warm environments (e.g. a hot automobile) “leach” chemicals is not based in science and are simply not true. These allegations have been perpetuated by the internet and media hype and only serve to frighten and confuse consumers. Plastic bottled water containers (PET) are used by many companies because they are approved by the FDA, and are safe, recyclable, and durable for use in the food and beverage industry.
Q: Is it safe to freeze your CRYSTAL GEYSER® ALPINE SPRING WATER®? Are chemicals leaching into the water from the bottle when frozen?
A: The FDA has reviewed testing data and concluded the PET containers do not leach harmful amounts of substances into their contents under normal conditions of use. There are no dangers inherent in freezing PET bottles and there is absolutely no truth to the claims that harmful chemicals are leached when PET bottles are frozen. The real concern about freezing bottles is that the frozen water makes the bottle more brittle and easier to break if you drop it. That is probably why some companies tell customers not to freeze bottles. Plastic bottled water containers (PET) are used by many companies because they are FDA approved, and are safe, recyclable, and durable for use in the food and beverage industry.
Q: Do cancer causing chemicals, like phthalates, leach from CRYSTAL GEYSER® ALPINE SPRING WATER® into the water?
A: Phthalates are a class of chemicals that include three subsets, each with different properties. Orthophthalate is the phthalate subset most commonly referenced and discussed in popular literature and on internet sites. Orthophthalate has been the subject of some negative press. Often used to make various plastics more flexible, this type of phthalate is also called a plasticizer. Our PET does not contain plasticizers or orthophthalates. Plastic bottled water containers (PET) are used by many companies because they are FDA approved, and are safe, recyclable, and durable for use in the food and beverage industry.
Q: Does BPA leach from your CRYSTAL GEYSER® ALPINE SPRING WATER® into the water?
A: There is absolutely no connection between PET plastic and BPA. BP A is not used in the production of PET material, nor is it used as a chemical building block for any of the materials used in the manufacturing of PET. Customarily, BPA is used to make polycarbonate, a different plastic from PET. Therefore, there exists absolutely no risk of BPA leaching into our product. Q: How long can I store my CRYSTAL GEYSER® ALPINE SPRING WATER®?
A: CRYSTAL GEYSER® ALPINE SPRING WATER® can safely be stored for several years. However, since we recognize that consumer storage conditions vary greatly, we recommend that consumers use the product before the “Sell by Date” expires (which is two years after production). Each product contains a “Sell by Date” on the neck bottle above the top of the label.
Our products are best stored in a cool, odor-free, and dry environment, and should be stored away from all cleaning products and chemicals.

Q: Does CRYSTAL GEYSER® ALPINE SPRING WATER® use a 0.1 Micron filter? What does this mean?
A: We utilize Absolute Filtration, a filtration method that the bottled water industry recognizes as the “gold standard” for filtering, an indicator of water purity. An Absolute-rated filter removes 100% of all particles of a given size. Filters are usually rated in microns, according to the size of particles that a filter can remove. A “micron” is one one-thousandth (1/1000) of a millimeter. Therefore, a 0.1 micron Absolute filter will remove 100% of all particles that are 0.1 micron (or larger) in size.
Therefore, by using a .1 micron filter at each of our plants, we are able to remove 100% of the natural occurring particles in our spring water that are one one-thousandth (1/1000) of a millimeter or larger. This absolute filtration method, coupled with our use of various other filters and ozonation during the bottling process, ensures that our CRYSTAL GEYSER® ALPINE SPRING WATER® contains pure and high quality spring water, without needing to strip away desirable natural minerals and taste through distillation or purification.
Q: How is your CRYSTAL GEYSER® ALPINE SPRING WATER® different from tap water?
A: Tap water is also known as municipal or “city water”. Tap water is the drinking water supplied by public utilities and it may be obtained from a variety of sources including reservoirs, streams, and lakes. It rarely comes from an actual spring source. Municipal water is commonly chlorinated and filtered extensively for sanitation purposes.
Our consumers tell us that tap water simply cannot match the refreshing and natural taste of our CRYSTAL GEYSER® ALPINE SPRING WATER®.
Q: What does it mean to have a “protected source”?
A: Our spring water is obtained from our protected natural spring sources and aquifers. Our remote locations provide for geographical isolation and protection from manmade activities to our spring sources. By strategically selecting remote spring sources, we prevent the risk of contamination from potentially harmful farming, industrial, and residential activities.
Also, we make sure that each of our locations meet specific geological criteria in order to protect our groundwater resources.
Water from our protected spring sources is continually and closely monitored by our trained quality control team in order to detect any changes in the microbiological, chemical, or physical characteristics. We perform both internal and third-party laboratory testing and meet all state and federal testing requirements.
Since our spring water is bottled right at the spring source, we eliminate the added risk of possible contamination that can occur during bulk transport of the water.
Q: What are your bottles made from?
A: Our bottles are made from 100% recyclable PET (polyethylene terephthalate). This plastic is also known as PETE #1, which is the most recyclable of all plastics used for packaging foods. PET is widely used for beverage containers around the world.
Q: Do you add fluoride to your CRYSTAL GEYSER® ALPINE SPRING WATER®?
A: No, we do not artificially add any minerals to our spring water. We do have a small amount of naturally occurring fluoride, which ranges from 0 to 0.7 parts per million, depending on the location of the spring source.
Q: Can I buy stock in your company?
A: Our Company is privately owned. We do not offer stock to the public at this time.
Q: How is your CRYSTAL GEYSER® ALPINE SPRING WATER® different from distilled or purified (reverse osmosis) water?
A: Distillation and purification (reverse osmosis) are two processes used to purify water. Purified water is defined by strict standards detailed in the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP 21st revision). Distilled water and purification almost always start off as water from a municipal (tap water) source.
Consumers tell us that these highly processed waters are not necessarily desirable as drinking water – as the natural minerals and natural taste have been removed. These trace minerals provide nutrition and a pleasing taste profile to the water. CRYSTAL GEYSER® ALPINE SPRING WATER® contains an ideal profile of naturally occurring minerals, which provide for excellent quality water and an outstanding taste.

Q: Why do you recommend on your bottle “Do not refill”?
A: We recommend against refilling our bottles because, like with other food or beverage products, when our product is opened and consumed microorganisms may be introduced into the container and begin to grow. If water or any other beverage is repeatedly refilled into our already opened and no longer sterile containers, the possibility of microbiological growth has been shown to increase.
When we bottle our CRYSTAL GEYSER® ALPINE SPRING WATER® our strict procedures ensure that only natural spring water fills the bottles, with no allowance for harmful contaminants. Once a bottle is opened and the spring water is consumed, the possibility of microorganism growth is heightened if the bottle is refilled. Therefore, as a health precaution, we do not recommend refilling and re-using our bottles.
