Ok.
Fellow Flutherites, I need a song. I have several months yet and am still pushing the elopement thing but, as I said, I need to find a song; just in case my plan fails.
Any suggestions, with or without youtube vids, will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Wind Beneath My Wings. That was my father daughter dance.
Hopefully, some other jellies have some more current selections. I am so out of it on current music.
All I can say is please please please, not “Daddy’s Little Girl” or “Butterfly Kisses.” Unless you like sappy, then have at it.
Any songs that are special to you and your dad? They don’t have to be traditional.
It would help to know what kind of music you like. I agree with @tedibear, please don’t pick either of those trite overused songs. Songs like that make me cringe.
I picked a country song, “I Loved Her First” – kind of sappy, but it didn’t make me gag. Then again, we got married in the South, where pretty much everyone likes country.
Some suggestions:
Bruce Springsteen – “When You Need Me”
Tom Petty – “Wildflowers”
Ben Folds – “Gracie”
Wilco – “My Darling”
Natalie Merchant – “Kind and Generous”
Loudon Wainwright – “Daughter”
Paul Simon – “Father and Daughter”
The Temptations – “My Girl”
@KNOWITALL Chuck Wicks sings Stealing Cinderella; I never understood why some of the versions have “Tim & Faith” next to it. Care to clue me in?
@livelaughlove21 Tim & Faith do a version that is fantastic, you should watch the video!! They are just so stinkin cute togther!
@KNOWITALL Meh, they sort of make me sick. I’ll have a listen though. I haven’t enjoyed a song by either of them since the late 90s or early 2000s. I clicked on a YouTube clip that said “Tim & Faith” and yet it was the Chuck Wicks version.
I wasn’t lucky enough to have my dad around for my wedding, but I think if he had been there, we wouldn’t have had some sappy something or other. Maybe something totally off the wall, like the Time Warp from the Rocky Horror Picture Show, or David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance”.
I used “Forever Young” by Audra Mae and the Forest Rangers… from the Sons of Anarchy soundtrack.
@Seek_Kolinahr Time Warps my karaoke go-to, LOVE the entire soundtrack though.
“Wind Beneath My Wings’ is my first thought too.
“Bridge Over Troubled Waters” = Simon and Garfunkel could be lovely.
“If I Needed You” fro mthe “Crazy Heart” soundtrack is a great song.
“You’ve Got a Friend” – James Taylor
This is the song I danced with my stepdaughter at her wedding last year. (Unforgettable by Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole)
This is the song I plan to dance with my daughter when she marries. (Isn’t She Lovely by Stevie Wonder)
This is also a good choice (Father and Daughter by Paul Simon)
My mother loved this song. I inferred it had some meaning from her adolescence.
A lot of good songs mentioned. I would also add Sunrise, Sunset from Fiddler on the Roof. Another song from that show, a little less cliched, is Chavala.
One thing – if you go with “You’ve Got a Friend” by James Taylor, be aware that it is a long ass song. It’s nice, it’s appropriate, JT is great, but that song never ends. This song was played at my first wedding and I swear it lasted longer than the marriage did!
@janbb Bridge Over Troubled Waters is a great idea. Great song.
Thanks to everyone who has given me a suggestion thus far! Several of them I have considered and are in the running. Special thanks to @Judi for one I was not aware of but really like and @poofandmook for one I hadn’t considered although I like The Pretenders version better! @janbb Why did I not remember S&G! Leaning toward Loudon right now but willing to look further.
I just looked up my suggestion and the first one on YouTube had no music… That was not the version I used. Had to point that out. Lol
