Would you use the restroom in a building if it were a unisex restroom?
If you went to a building to do business, eat, watch a show, etc. and you discover when you needed to ”go”, it was a unisex restroom; the main part where you washed your hands was shared, but it had stalls to take care of the serious business, even for the urinals, but everything occupied the same common space, it was not two separate rooms. Knowing that the opposite sex would be in the same area, maybe passing right outside the door to your stall, would you use it? What would be your biggest opposition to using a unisex restroom if it was the only choice you had? If a regular gender based restroom was available but the line was super long and you really had to go, would you use the unisex if one was available also?

I’d use the unisex bathroom as described, no problem.
Probably should have had people give their sex. I’m betting mostly men will say “Yes”.
Male
Yes, and I have also used the men’s room when there’s nobody around and I’ve been in a rush.
As long as there are stalls, I would use it. If a regular, gender based bathroom was available and the line was super long, I would definitely use it.
Yeah I think I would. It would first make me stop and consider if I can handle waiting.
This reminds me of a bathroom I once encountered in a biology building. It was called a “unisex” bathroom, but the way it worked was that there was a slider on the door that switched between “men”, “women”, and “vacant”. If I went to use it, I’d switch the sign to “men” while I was in there. When I left, I’d switch it to vacant. I guess if another man entered then I would not change the sign, and hopefully that guy after me would remember to switch it. The bathroom had four stalls and two twin urinals. I call them twin urinals because they were right next to each other without any divider.
If I was in dire need, I’d use it, but I’d make sure the management knew that I had no intention of ever using their establishment again, which would really affect my day to day life. I’d also purchase a portable toilet that could be used in my vehicle or even start wearing adult diapers if I had to.
Retrofitting sanitary facilities is going to be an expensive proposition, but I notice that new construction often offers multiple rooms with a single toilet and sink.
Of course, I would. I don’t think bathrooms should be separated by gender.
Sure. If I gotta go I gotta go, goddammit.
Yeah, I have no problem with it as long as they are clean.
Of course I would and I have. I’m also presuming a locking door, as has been in any one I’ve ever used thus far. (I’m female so I don’t know what that does to your theory.)
And I’ve seen genderless bathrooms plenty of times on major thruways’ rest areas.
The sign on the door reads “Family” and the stall is large enough to also accommodate a foldup changing table attached to the wall so that even Fathers traveling alone can change their kid’s diapers when necessary. ( Its currently not something which could be accomplished in the typical Men’s
room )
I agree with Simone that bathrooms should be gender less. (This would also help to alleviate the anxiety for parents reluctant to send their young son, unaccompanied, into the Male bathroom area.)
I would try not to. But twice now I’ve used the Mens’ room when some woman was in the Ladies’ room forever. I mean, it was like she was setting up camp in there.
I felt cool about it and locked the door behind me.
