How do you convert square inched to square feet?

You could use google, they have an awesome bulit in converter.
Search for: 5 square inches / square feet for example if you wanted to convert 5 square inches into square feet.

There are 144 square inches in a square foot (12"x12"), so divide the number of square inches by 144, and you've got your square footage.

For more complicated conversions, I'd definitely go with Google - they've got the best converter around. =)

5 sq. inches = .03472222 sq feet...gotten from the Dashboard Widget on Mac OS X. Very user-friendly.

1 sq. Foot = 144 sq. inches = x
1 sq. Inch = 1 sq. Inch = y

y * 144 = x

y / 144 = x
