What is the secret behind the popularity of the game Flappy Bird?

Asked by Mimishu1995 (23799points) February 14th, 2014

Aka what the hell makes Flappy Bird so popular despite its being stereotyped and a rip-off of many games in every aspect?

Or why the hell does something like this happen?

I just can’t understand. I played that game once and it was so annoying that I deleted it right after downloading. You have heard about Flappy Bird right? Can you tell me the answer?

Flappy Bird is so popular because it’s extremely difficult but it’s not impossible. To be in the elite group of people who could get past the first pipe has a certain draw to it that some people can’t seem to resist. So people kept trying to actually do it instead of giving up and deleting it. And now that it’s gone from the App Store it has even more of a draw because you can’t just download it anymore.

According to my son, the secret to Flappy Bird is not throwing your phone after 5 tries.

I’ve never heard of this. It sounds like some type of NSFW thing. Now I’m hearing parts of skin flapping

Perhaps some people mistake for the more risque game known as Fappy Bird? ;-?

Easy to learn, hard to master.

Stereotyped? What? Against whom? Birds?

I’ll stick to the original

I don’t know really though, people get addicted to a lot of really stupid rip off games. I mean, look at candy crush.

@uberbatman difficult game! What’s your best score?

@newtscamander It’s been a while but the best I can get right now is 1639. I know I’ve done a lot better in the past though.
