Does anyone live in or around Houston? Can you tell me what it's like?

Maybe something useful that isn’t considered by visitors or new residents that can’t be easily googled?

I don’t live there, but I have been there. It’s big! Lot’s of traffic. Warm climate (obviously). I know a few people who live in or around Houston and they all like it. They all have lived in several different places in the US. That probably doesn’t help much. Sorry I don’t have more specifics.

My daughter and kids spend each weekend in Houston. One of her best friends lives there. Daughter says the shopping is fabulous, the traffic horrendous. Her friend says there’s a panhandler on every corner. The summers are dreadfully hot and humid. Winters are nice.
I have never heard one person say they love or like Houston.

I have unfond memories of the heat/humidity and traffic in Houston.

It’s LA without the nice parts.

Yeah, like LA only with dreadful weather. Good analogy.

The Houston environment suffers from a heavy infestation of oil refineries.

Given Texass’s disdain for industrial regulation, there’s a better than average chance that any one of them is on the verge of exploding.
