If you had a time machine what major world events would you change?

Asked by talljasperman (21919points) March 7th, 2014

From getting Hitler psychotherapy as a child, to saving Jesus from the cross… What major change would you do? Feel free to be creative.
Humor welcome. How would your change play out when you come back.? If you want to come back.

I really, truly feel the Kennedy assassination spun this country into Bizzaro World.
Stopping that would probably stop Viet Nam, Watergate, the 60’s revolution, and much of the pain of this nation.

I’ve watched/read enough sci-fi to know that nothing good ever comes out of fucking with history.

I wouldn’t change a thing.

I wouldn’t change anything big. I’d go back to when I was hurt, and confused, and stop myself from leavng my first husband. Then I’d set myself up with a couple of longshot bets.
I guess I would hinted, when our natiional anthem was being chosen, that it should be a song the average person would not have difficulty singing.

I want to change a lot of things. But since you’re asking about major world events I’ll just narrow my to-do list down to stopping wars and tragic accidents like the Titanic.

Oh, and I may stop the discovery of petrol too.

@filmfann Thanks for sympathizing with our pain…

I’d have had the Village People gang bang Hitler when he was but a young teen.

After having watched a DVD on the treatment of the native populations in the Americas by the white invaders, I would have them not have come or have co-existed in peace with the Indians as the Indians, for the most part, offered. The United States is founded on a brutal genocide.

In fact, I would do my best to stop all “ethnic cleansing” wherever it takes place.

I would not endeavor to change the big events; rather, I would seize the opportunity to fully enjoy and appreciate people and moments in my life that I foolishly let slip past me.

It’s the centenary of the start of the First World War this year. I go back and stop it.

I would go back into the era of early agricultural development and completely dissuade farmers from growing peppers of any kind.
