Favorite Beatles song?

Asked by SuperMouse (30853points) July 1st, 2008

The Bob Dylan question got me thinking about this. What is your favorite song by The Beatles? The Rolling Stones?

My favorite Beatles song is “8 Days a Week,’ for the Stones it is “Tumbling Dice.”

There’s so many to love that it changes day to day for me. Today I’m loving Helter Skelter, but who knows about tomorrow.

Always “Helter Skelter”, “Come Together” and “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”! But different days will have different favourites. Today´s a “Drive My Car”-day I think. With a little bit of “I Will”.

Like Eambos and others have said, with so many songs that would be a career-defining tracks for other bands, how do you choose one over the other? Some notable ones that I like are “Dear Prudence”, “All you need is love”, “In my life”, “Lovely Rita”. My favorite Stones song would have to be “Paint it Black”

Earth, Wind & Fire do a great version of Got To Get You Into My Life. In fact I think it’s the best Beatles cover song ever recorded.

I love it when soul/funk bands cover the beatles; the Brothers Johnson doing ‘Come Together’ is another good one.

ljs22 – Did you know that Here, There & Everywhere was John Lennon’s favorite Beatle song penned by Paul?

Twist and Shout

AstroChuck's avatar

Actually Twist and Shout is an old Isley Brothers song the Beatles covered. But I do think they did it better. You could say they made it their own.

AC, cool I didn’t know that.

I find that my faves from every Beatle “era” are John’s (or mostly John’s):

Early: No Reply
Middle: In My Life
Late: Glass Onion/Everybody’s Got Something to Hide, Except for Me and My Monkey/Across the Universe

It never ceases to amaze me how such fantastic work came from a guy who, by most accounts, was more often than not a ruddy selfish bastard. I suppose he’s an object lesson showing us that, yes, we are all truly multi-faceted individuals.

Oh Darling from Abby Road.

Or maybe all of side B from Abbu road…
