Wow am I just plain stupid or what when it comes to the Brad Cooper situation?

Asked by pleiades (6617points) March 20th, 2014

I can’t for the life of me figure out what the heck is going on with this news?

http://www.buzzfeed.com/whitneyjefferson/theory-bradley-coopers-entire-career-exists-only-to-prove-lo?bffb

Can someone explain a step by step rundown of what this all entails? I don’t pay close attention to Hollywood.

Louis C.K. was making fun of no-name actors that will sit in the audience and ask a big star a question to get some insight on how they got to where they are. He says, “You’ll never be famous.” However, Bradley Cooper was one of the people that asked a big star (Sean Penn) a question during one of these interviews.

I’m not sure if Louis C.K. intended for this to be a jab at Sean Penn, but if not, it’s pretty ironic. Bradley Cooper IS a famous actor now, though, so I guess Louis was wrong. So, Bradley Cooper’s successful career, according to this article, is a big FU to Louis C.K.

It’s not really news. Most celebrity “news” isn’t news.

I must say, I’ve never heard Bradley Cooper being referred to as “Brad” before this question. I didn’t even know who you were talking about until I saw the link.

That is a great clip, and I am glad you shared it.

The premise of the Louis C.K. statement is entirely wrong. Remember that clip of JFK greeting Bill Clinton ?

Good for Bradley Cooper! I like his acting, specially ‘Limitless.’

But

Louis CK (whoever he is) is statistically correct. We all make our own fame.

And FU to CK

@herculies Whoever he is?! Ha! He’s a comedian. An awesome one.

@livelaughlove21 Thanks, I googled him so now I know.

Never heard of this Louis fella, but this just sounds like another piece of tedious celebrity crap.

@livelaughlove21 Well I’ve never heard of any of the two, I’ve heard of Sean Penn… But still have no clue as to the whole, someone getting schooled point.

This happened all in one seating? I pretty much have no idea when this happened, why it happened, where it happened etc. Zero context whatsoever!

@pleiades If you don’t know who either of them are, why do you even care?

Never heard of Louis CK?

If you have Netflix, check out his standup, or the amazing series, “Louie”. Yes, he is by far my favorite comedian.

livelaughlove21's avatar

@hominid He’s one of my favorites too. :) I find his stand-up way funnier than the show, but he’s awesome.

@livelaughlove21 Seems like there is a lot of hype about it on FB… Basically what it looks like to me is that Cooper “schooled” C.K. but I seriously have no context whatsoever and I’m interested in it.

Is this all weird for me to wonder about? I mean you don’t have to explain it to me but if you’d like to help feel more than free to because I’m very open about the fact that I have no background info of the two anyhow but I’d like to know what’s going on. Kind of like reading a STAR gossip magazine or something.

I do not have a clue as to who TF Brad Cooper is and even less knowledge as to what his situation is.

Is that bad?

1. Louis C.K. is a famous comedian. He does stand-up comedy and had a series called Louis.

2. Bradley Cooper is a famous actor. He was is all of The Hangover movies and, more recently, American Hustle.

3. During an interview, Louis C.K. was making fun of no-name actors that like to sit in the audience and ask big stars, like Sean Penn, questions about how they made it big. The joke was that he said these guys asking questions will never become famous. It was a joke.

4. It just so happens that Bradley Cooper was once one of these no-name actors that sat in the audience and asked Sean Penn questions about his career.

5. Bradley Cooper is now famous.

6. The whole point of the link is that they’re saying Bradley’s success is a big “fuck you” to Louis C.K., basically because he proved him wrong by becoming famous after being the no-name actor Louis was making fun of.

7. There’s no news here. It wasn’t a “burn” or anything like that. These guys probably aren’t even aware that they have this connection. It just happens to be a bit ironic that Louis C.K. mentioned Sean Penn of all people, because that’s who Bradley Cooper was asking questions regarding being an actor before he ever got famous.

**If the confused folks still don’t get it after this, don’t bother trying. It’s not a big deal. This is the only place I’ve even heard of this – nothing bad will happen if you don’t know the point of the video. It’s pretty damn simple, though. Nothing even happened!

On the Famous Scale, Louis CK is a 4, while Bradley Cooper is a 6.5

@filmfann Considering the popularity of the Hangover movies, I say your number for Cooper is BS. Then again, how the hell does one measure fame?
