Fact from fiction. Without cheating (or lying), how many of you besides the penguin bothered to translate all three words of Notitia Dignitatum Scyphozoa?

@gailcalled I looked it up yeah, because I’m not fluent in Latin besides a few words. I couldn’t translate that on my own. I didn’t quite understand what it means either, by looking it up. Mind you, could have done a better effort, but I thought the details in the question were pretty clear. that is, minus just naming staff members

I found the first two words. I’m still trying to get all three.

@Adirondackwannabe From what I could find while looking it up, the third one is Jellyfish (derived from Greek words).

I found all three, first “Notitia Dignitatum” and “Scyphozoa” from my biology course.

@janbb I know many of the Jellies I have met here felt they should be crowned King of Fluther and I think if we name a Jelly we should also provide thier dog’s name as well.

@dxs Oh yeah, that person had spun out a long story about grieving for his dead masochistic bisexual wife and then falling in love with her niece. It was eventually revealed that the whole story was a fabrication because he had told other versions of it previously on another site.

^It was horrifying as the story unfolded but I was glad to find out it was an entire fabrication.

I guess I missed that! Not that I regret it, though.

I miss JilltheTooth’s presence here too. I am friends with her on Facebook and we communicate (mostly about dogs!) but I really enjoyed her contributions here.

The guy who wanted to do his niece in the butt had a story on AnswerBag as well, about how his wife passed away. He said he was flying the body in an airplane to get it to the place where the funeral was. He was posting updates on Answerbag about the trip, while operating the airplane. Would say things like, it’s now 1:32 PM, we are over so and so, two hours left of flying bla bla.
Kept my mouth shut, but really, your wife just died, you’re operating the airplane flying her body to destination, and you’re on some Q&A site? Really?

Also after I didn’t want to talk to him anymore, after the niece story, he kept sending me e-mails that were filled with viruses. :/

Yeah, but I keep telling myself, most people on the internet are normal people, so I take it at face value. Although due to the medium’s nature, it’s inevitable at times. But I have to agree, stuff that seems so outrageous probably seems so outrageous for a reason.
