Can lifting weights with your arms only benefit your upper body?

If you lift free weights three times per day but never exercise your lower body will doing that have any benefit whatsoever from the waist down?

What are you trying to improve below the waist?
Lifting with only upper body will still require engagement of the core and if done standing will also engage the major muscles of the legs. All upper body though will create an imbalance in the overall body structure that could be a problem down the road. Popeye arms and Olive Oil legs would be wobbly at best.
First of all, lifting three times a day makes no sense. Three times a week is perfectly sufficient.
Secondly, it depends on what upper body movements are being performed. Compound movements like the overhead press or rows engage more core and lower body muscles than isolation exercises like bicep curls or tricep extensions.
Lastly, why would anyone only do upper body workouts?
LOL No, no , no. I’m just lifting weights in my office chair and wondered if that can help my lower body. I am not capable of looking like or wanting to look like a pro wrestler. No chance of that.
@Aster If you’re sitting in a chair and lifting light weights, your lower body isn’t working at all, so no benefit. It’s probably not doing much for your upper body either. Women don’t bulk like men when lifting heavy (for you) weights, and heavier weights are most beneficial to both genders. That whole light weight/high reps will tone your body thing is bullshit – the only good light weights do is slightly increase calorie burn when used during cardio exercises. Or for people rehabilitating from a surgery or injury.
Yes it can, but no it doesn’t have to.
