Do I seem obsessed with tea?

Asked by WhovianGirl18 (85points) March 30th, 2014 from iPhone

I love all kinds of tea(sweet tea, black with milk and sugar, green tea, bottled tea, and tea from restaurants. I drink it pretty much everyday and more than one cup. I hate coffee.

Well my day always starts with a cup of tea! I drink, on average, two or three cups a day.I have heard people drinking a lot more than this,so drinking two or three cups is just normal but it seems like with all things moderation is key.
If not consumed in excess, tea keeps you hydrated. It is one beverage that contributes to our fluid needs.

I don’t like coffee either.

You seem more enthusiastic than obsessed. Just drinking one or two or three cups a day is hardly an obsession. If you don’t have a health issue that makes caffeine contraindicated then the tea is likely benefit to your health.

I told my cardiologist that I drink 3 very small cups of green tea a day all made with the same tea bag and he told me to just brink one very small cup of green tea a day. That is too hard for me to do because I love green tea so much. So I just stopped drinking it completely.

Drink a large cup of tea for me. HA!

Tea is good for you. I drink, like, 10 -16oz. cups a day. Drink up!

I love tea. I brew it fresh every morning from loose leaves. I often have a cup or two in the afternoons.

When it’s hot, I sometimes make a pitcher to put in the fridge.

I agree with @gondwanalon‘s assessment that you seem enthusiastic and not obsessed.

Why does it matter?

I drink more tea than coffee, though I do like both. My first drink of the morning is always tea because I find it more refreshing and thirst-quenching than coffee. My favourite tea at the moment is rooibos, which is naturally caffeine-free and it tastes slightly different from ordinary black tea. I usually drink it without milk or lemon.

It took me quite a while to develop a taste for coffee – I was nearly 30 when they came out with the flavored ones, like Hazelnut. Then once Starbucks opened, I was in heaven! An older colleague said Starbucks was like drinking a melted chocolate bar – Yup! That’s why I liked it! I’ve weaned off some of the sweeter variations and use fat-free milk or creamer, so it’s not as calorie laden for me.

However, I do still love teas, and as mentioned in another recent thread, I have to shelves in my corner cabinet full of teas – ones that have caffeine and ones that do not. I dislike plain water, so drinking teas are my low-or-no calorie solution.

Tea is wonderful in all forms. Brits tend to drink tea much more than coffee. I don’t think anyone think’s they’re obsessed.

I was actually kind of disappointed that one of my favorite British characters, Tom Barnaby from Midsomer Murders, kept ordering coffee instead of tea.

I drink tea every day. Tons of iced tea (no sugar) in the summertime. It’s very good for you too, as long as you lay off the cream and sugar.

@Kardamom There are some Brits who don’t like tea. In fact I know quite a few. My mother, my partner, and my daughter’s boyfriend will all drink coffee but never tea. It makes me wonder if tea-drinking is going out of fashion even here.

@downtide I I hope not! I was so thrilled the one time I got to visit England and they had an electric teapot in oour hotel room, along with cream. I drank it every chance I got.

I don’t take cream or milk in my tea here, in the U.S., but it was so much fun drinking it like that, properly, when I was there. I also fell in love with clotted cream! And don’t get me started on watercress sandwiches, which I had for the first time in Bath. Divine!
