What are the guidelines for posts in Meta?

Asked by jca (36062points) April 6th, 2014

I am reading a thread in Meta, and although I didn’t comment on anything so I have no clue what, exactly, was modded off, it’s full of modded off comments. I know that in the past, Meta would devolve into private jokes and stuff, so I am curious what the guidelines are, or if the moderation has changed.

Good question. Oh, and since Auggie “left” I’ve noticed the new mods are kind of ass [redacted]. <<<< Like that! Yes. Ass redacted.

Same as in Social: jokes are fine, but it’s not anything goes.

The guidelines are the same as Social.

They should be the same as in social. No flaming, no divulging personal information on other users without their consent and no naming people, least not in negative light. And probably, not going off topic TOO much.

For Lurve parties, celebrations, lighthearted topics, or game posts, such as The Jelly Below Me, the moderation is very loose.

However, for more serious discussions, we will moderate posts that disrupt the conversation or veer too far off topic, per the Social guidelines.

We also remove comments that refer to prior moderated posts, which is usually the case when a bunch of comments are removed from a thread.

If it is a post referring to a single Jelly, it also seems likely that the posts removed may have revealed information that was deemed too personal.

GQ. I’ve wondered that myself, and I suspected that it was similar to Social.

I have seen questions regarding Fluther that I believed to be poor posted in General in an attempt to keep people from calling the questions out.

I reckon I’ll avoid general from now on ~

@ibstubro What is a “poor” question on Fluther? Pretty much anything goes here. People are free to ask what they like.
