Can questions that are asked here on Fluther harm someone in the longrun?

I am particularly referring to the NSFW questions. I was just thinking what if a member here; lets say for example is running to be the next president of the United States, and the rival political party or other people who want to see that member fail, tries to get dirt on their enemy. Could they use what was posted in Fluther for information? Is the information here really as private as it is supposed to be?

Well I guess my political career is over.
The idea of “privacy” on a site like this is really very loose. One would need to have an untraceable account, through an untraceable email account, on a device (or devices) with untraceable IP addresses. One would need to create a writing style that was consistent and unique to these anonymous accounts. The anonymity here really isn’t, if one has the skills and resources to hack.
Anything one chooses to share in cyberland is subject to examination. Goes with the territory, so, babble at your own risk.
Ultimately, there is no way to remove information that you have posted to the internet. If you post personal information, there is no way to take it back. We can try to moderate it, but people have already seen it and written it down/screenshotted it. There are users who screenshot threads. Whatever information they gather is out of your hands, forever.
Even if you give personal information in private messages, that person may then tell other people your information. Take this question for example. Ultimately, that user’s contact information is being distributed to people without her permission, even if it is not publicly viewable.
Anything on the internet is a risk.
Only your street cred, sshhhhh…
I think if you posted a Wiener picture here, the mods would likely remove it for you.
For stuff like that, I would be a lot more concerned about what is put on FaceBook (anything too, not just NSFW stuff) rather than Fluther. If you don’t tell, they’ll never know who you were on here. But on Facebook they can use that to dish it out, as happens regularly, or so it seems. And whoever ’‘they’’ are.
some people care some don’t. I do so I expect myself to remain quiet on certain issues. nsfw are questionable for me.
Wait you means this is seen all over the interweb!
I’m in deep doo-doo !
As has oft been admonished “Don’t post anything on the Internet that you wouldn’t want put as a headline in your hometown newspaper or the New York Times.”
Internet privacy is a myth, pure and simple. Like the unicorn, it doesn’t exist.
Write carefully.
