White Americans to be the minority in the USA come 2042?

Yes, I do have friends who are racist. Why, they sometimes even call me racist. They’d have a point, except I hate everyone equally.

I know some, sure. Will the royals marry outside their race ever?

I think you’re confusing racism with ethnocentrism.

A racist is someone who believes that some races of people are better than others

Ethnocentric is having or based on the idea that your own group or culture is better or more important than others.

I’m white and inherently ethnocentric. If I were to become a minority in 2042, I would most likely move out of the country. However, I do live in a state that is more than 90% white and within the state I live in a gated community that is 100% white. so that fact may still sway me to stay. Also, there are at least 10–15 more states where the demographics are consistently dominated by whites, so I doubt they will change dramatically by 2042. It would also depend on how strong state rights are v.s federal. If states rights are weak, then I doubt the % of demographics of one or several states would matter.

What, a quarter to nine tonight? Doubt it.

I’m not racist or ethnocentric, so I really don’t care. I would only care if racist policies started to be enacted that disenfranchised minorities. It’s happened before. However, in places like South Africa where the minority are white, the minority was still able to oppress the majority as long as they had the wealth and power, so just because a certain group is the majority, doesn’t mean they will suddenly have all the power.

Most of the people I know are racist. More in a jokey way rather than hate-filled, but racist just the same.

But I curious how whites are going to be the minority?

Whites may not be a simple majority in 2042, but they will still be a plurality for a long time. Only after that would another ethnicity be more prevalent.

I don’t really understand it around here. I’ll see people chat up a black person and be perfectly charming. Five minutes later, they out of mixed company and using the ‘N’ word. WTF?

@ibstubro They use the N word and the F word (fag/faggot) very frequently. Yes, they’re also homophobic (Misogynistic, too, while we’re at it.) From my study on their usages of the word, the F word is basically anyone who is a jerk or falls out of their norm, but the N word is hard to tell. I don’t even think they use the N word in an offensive way sometimes, but I don’t completely understand their jargon.

@Dxs if a group does it, that’s a good sign it’s real. They usually keep it quiet.

As far as I know, but I’m 100 miles from a real ‘city’. Though I’m not exposed to a lot of teen boys, it doesn’t seem like it’s been that long since I heard it, @livelaughlove21.

Many cities already have white people as the minority population. That is what we are most aware of, our immediate surroundings. When the majority is mostly one group, like in Miami it is primarily people from Latin America, for some white people it does get on their nerves or feel uncomfortable. It depends how ostracized they feel. Is everyone speaking Spanish around them? Do they feel like Latin Americans are treating white European-Americans differently? Then consider NYC which is about 45% “white” but it is so diverse everyone is just one of the many.

I know very few people who I would consider to be racist. I do know people who have some negative stereotypes about people in certain groups, but they don’t meet an individual and think they are going to be like the stereotype, they don’t prejudge a person. They certainly don’t feel people are born a certain way because of their skin color or ethnicity.

@hominid I think that study had problems with it. They said in the article that healthcare is not a race related issue. It certainly is to a lot of people. That makes me wonder how well the people who wrote the question for the survey really understood what they were asking. I see this sort of thing happen a lot. I might be wrong, but that is my impression.
