Why do online TV networks require that we verify to watch the latest releases?
They want us to verify our account with a tv provider. If I had a TV provider i wouldn’t be wanting to watch online.

I’ve only seen this with channels that cost extra, such as HBO. They do this to be sure you are paying for the content and not using online as a way to get it without subscribing to their station.
ABC, Fox, TNT, TBS, USA all do it.
ABC and Fox hold you captive for a week before allowing you to view week old new shows.
I imagine it’s for the same reason, to make sure you are paying for their station/programming. I’ve never tried it on those sites.
Are there sites that offer free up-to-the minute new TV programs?
I haven’t had TV service since 2009 and I watch Cosmos on Fox.com every week, no problem.
