Are there some parts of the ACA that aren't in place yet?

Asked by Dutchess_III (47126points) April 13th, 2014

Having a discussion about gay rights, and I found where the ACA makes it illegal for insurance companies to discriminate against gay couples. Someone asked if that particular part was “functional” yet. I just said I assumed so, then thought I’d ask the KNOWITALLS! (That would be you guys. :)

The wildly unpopular employer mandate was postponed until next year…primarily to shield incumbent Democrats running in the mid-term elections from the dust storm it is sure to generate.

What is the ‘employer mandate’?

@Dutchess_III The employer mandate could not possibly be more ambiguous and confusing it make me wonder if even they the Government knows what it means…Maybe Nancy Pilosi can explain it to you.

I wonder if gay marriage was legal in all 50 states and DC if SO coverage would be such an issue?

With gay marriage gay divorce inevitably follows.

Since both sides of a gay divorce settlement are of the same gender it’s going to be very interesting to see how this fact influences judgements.

It’s is my opinion that this can only help to lessen the jaw dropping disparity shown in hetero divorce settlements.

Stay tuned for more.
