Prime meridian +1. or UTC +1. Give me a call. I’m on skype.
@cazzie Are you still in Norway? For some reason I thought you’d moved to New Orleans.
@Seek Ah, yes. Fellow Floridian. And the state is much richer for it.
EDT or Milo Universal Time
No, @Espiritus_Corvus I’m still in Norway. I’m stuck here. Separated from my deadbeat husband, but because of laws here, I have to stay because we have a son together. I’m working on it and have the support of several government agencies but it takes time. He has almost nothing to do with his children, so there is a point to be made.
Pacific Time. UTC- 8 during the winter; UTC – 7 from early March to early November.
About 6 months in CDT, one month in EST and 5 months in GMT.
Pacific. West Coast 4lyfe.
The US Eastern Time zone is UTC-4 during Daylight Savings Time
I’m in USA Central Daylight Time (CDT)
AKA UTC/GMT -5 hours
Also CST Midwest USA.
I once lived in Phoenix, AZ, where they do not change their clocks at all. (No surprise, considering how backward they are in so many other ways!). What a pain it was every spring and fall for me and my friends, relatives and business associates in other states!
I live in the Pacific Time Zone.
Because I’m interested in some exotic/esoteric info, I researched Mimishu’s time zone.
According to this, she lives in the Indochina Time Zone, and her country doesn’t observe DST.

PDT, and I am going to try to view at least a snippet.
6:42 pm now. :-)
@Coloma I hope you will come back and let us know your thoughts on it before you go to bed.
Exactly what @Brian1946 said.
More percisely, GTM +7.
9: 15 a.m here!
Midnight! Almost there! Awesome view here, misty ring around the moon starting out and now, just a sliver left, going out for one last peek again.
Oh man…there’s going to be blood on my moon come 6 a.m. but hey…it is worth it!
Too cloudy today. Can’t see anything. Last week I missed Mars, and now I’m missing this. My life sucks. I really wanted to see Mars too.
CDT and overcast so no view. Bummer.
Awake and outside four times between 12:30 AM and 4:30 AM.
EDT; heavy cloud cover. Northeastern US.
At least it was warm, unlike most of the other observational astronomy events I have participated in.
@Symbeline: Mars is still around. Source
“Mars remains near its peak all this week. (April 11 to the 18.) Mars appears low in the east as darkness falls and grows more prominent as the evening wears on and it climbs higher. By 1 a.m. local daylight time, it stands halfway to the zenith in the southern sky. The ruddy world lies among the background stars of central Virgo, 8° northwest of that constellation’s brightest star, 1st-magnitude Spica. The planet shines at magnitude –1.5, some 10 times brighter than the star.”
Yes! We happened to see Mars on Saturday. I, in my ignorance, originally thought it was Venus, but my son argued and we were pleased to be corrected by Google SkyMap.
It was so pretty!
Wasn’t that cool? We have a bunch of meteor showers coming up. Hopefully we’ll get to see those.
@Milo: Dig your beret, man. Very 1920’s Montmartre.
Milo here; I need to change it for an aviator helmet with ear flaps. Several inches of snow predicted for tonight…coinciding with the explosion of blooms of at least 1000 of my 5000 daffodils and the first tender small rosettes of the dandelions (les pissenlits, mon vieux)
Yes, I remember you mentioned having hundreds of Prince Albert daffodils a few years back. I hope this menagerie of color survives this late snowfall. Will it ever end for you guys?
Sleep well, mes amis.
@gailcalled Can you post pictures of the daffs if they survive the snow? Snow??!! We have nasty rain here. Frodo is at the vet’s and I am having, as the English say, an early night.
(I think we just started our own chat room! Le cercle des animaux.)
^I ‘ll try. I’m a bit behind in my life due to extraordinary rain and flash flooding shorting out my phone lines most of this afternoon. That meant no computer, too. We are awash still but phones are finally working.
The large hole under part of my basement foundation where the opossum had been living is a swimming pool, so I hope that means he has had to find higher ground, somewhere far far away from me. The joys of country living.
Not to make a pun (?) but maybe we need to pool our resources. Frodo and Sam could run off the vermin.
Just went out to put my car in the garage and had to scrape off 2” of wet snow.
Did you know that opossums can have 13 or more babies, that they are born the size of lima beans, and being marsupials, attach themselves to their mother’s teat in her pouch. She hauls them around for between 70 and 125 days, when she then weans them and kicks them to the curb.
I-am-sooo-tired tonight. Gail, can I come for a sleepover, we can make steel cut oatmeal cookies and tea by the fire.
Yes, I did know that about Opossums, by the time you see rat sized babies being piggybacked around they are already several months old.
@gailcalled They also have the most teeth of any mammal, 52.
Pearly white, sharp as daggers, and…they are highly resistant to the rabies virus as their body temp. is too low to incubate the disease!
Sorry, give me a tidbit of trivia and I lose all focus. haha
