Can anyone explain why they don't just pull the plug on this guy ?

It’s pretty obvious he prefers to be dead since he tried the DIY approach. And it’s also obvious he deserves it for what he did.

(I am basically against the death penalty on principle because of how many people have been wrongly convicted.)

But there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of doubt here and it is clearly what he wants. So, why not just oblige him already ?
