The Winter Soldier sounded so unappealing, even for a sequel. I was plesantly surprised.
Let’s chat about movies, shall we?

Calling @filmfann… and all jelly film fans.
I remember the definitive depiction of captain america, where he pretends to be car sick and then steals the car.
twice.
and gets his arse kicked by red skeletor
I’ve heard mixed reviews about that one, and didn’t see the first. I’m way behind on the Marvel films, and think I may skip the future ones altogether. I still have to catch up on the X-Men series before the new one comes out.
The most recent movies I’ve seen are The Lego Movie, which was really good, and the latest Muppet Movie, which was fairly good. I also saw—The Grand Budapest Hotel_, which I really enjoyed, and Dallas Buyers Club, which was great.
Just saw “Winter Soldier” last weekend, I really liked it, oh, what I wouldn’t give to have Scarlett Johanssens ass. haha
Another superhero movie again?
<Sigh> Hasn’t the Avengers been enough?
I enjoyed the Winter Soldier, and was excited about it when I heard the title, since I knew the character.
I saw it in 3D, which I regret, but I did enjoy the movie despite it. 3D movies just don’t work for me.
As far as bad titles, it isn’t nearly as bad as “Flashdance 2: The Electric Boogaloo”
@ragingloli In the States, he is The Red Skull. Skeletor was the enemy of He-Man.
@Mimishu1995 I want to see the infinity gauntlet getting used in avengers 2 or 3… I want to imagine having the ultimate power in the universe.
@talljasperman Yeah, with the avengers raging like that, would we really need Captain America?
@Mimishu1995 It is Captain America’s sympathy for those with out power what makes him special… He has no superpowers but he is a peak human, that is possible for a good person who is in super shape can aspire too. I’m 6 foot 5 inches all I have to do Is shed a few pounds and I can run around beating up bullies like I did in grade school. I’m too old to fight school yard fights any more… So I practice sword fighting , or I did until my fencing master died from a hernia in 2012.
@talljasperman The Cap does have a super power, since his strength and endurance have been remarkably increased through performance enhancing drugs science.
@filmfann Yes… but my old marvels universe trading cards in the 90’s said that Cap is similar but less than endurance as the wolverine. You are right the super solider formula is steroids…
@filmfann ” In the States, he is The Red Skull. Skeletor was the enemy of He-Man.”
That was the point @ragingloli was making. It’s a rip off character.
Winter Soldier? Sounds pretty Viking.
I think Cap is a regular grunt and we’re all taking drugs.
@ragingloli Right back atcha Pay special attention to the music in the background.
@filmfann
Worst part of that is, Jar Jar was the only character in that film, that even had a character.
It is a play on words.
Captain America is an example of a Winter Soldier. He is fighting a guy called “The Winter Soldier” but the title actually is meant to describe Steve.
It comes from Thomas Paine and the American Revolution:
These are the times that try men’s souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.
A Winter Soldier is the opposite of a Summer Soldier.
