What would suck more: getting sent to fight terrorists in the Middle East or sent to fight war with Russia?
Just from a discussion I had with a friend.
I said terrorists, and my reasoning was that you don’t exactly know who the enemy is. You can get car bombed or suicide-bombed by seemingly innocent children. My friend said it would suck more to fight against Russia because of their organized, terrifying military.
I guess maybe they balance each other in their ups and downs. You might not know who’s going to shoot you down as a terrorist, but they aren’t exactly trained military men. If we ever fight Russia, yeah that would suck, but at least you would know who to kill.

The Russians are more well trained and more likely to kill you.
Terrorists are more random in their targets.
Of the two, I’m more likely to survive if I go to the Middle East.
[I’m not sure that knowing your target makes a real difference]
What comes to mind immediately for me is the difference in climate. I would rather be at war against lethal, but methodical, soldiers in Russia. Wearing all of that gear in the high deserts of the Middle East, where you would sweat your ass off in hot dust all day and freeze all night would wear on my psyche pretty quickly. At least make my environment more stable so I can keep my head in the game.
I’d rather fight the terrorists. Maybe they are more random and slightly disorganized, which might be used to one’s advantage. You’re more likely to survive against them, especially if your team is trained to deal with terrorism.
Russia on the other hand is a force to be reckoned with, and even America, the most powerful nation in the world, doesn’t want to fuck with Russia.
I’ll stick with giving wedgies to Canadians
A war with Russia would involve lots of equipment, filled with defined targets, vulnerable to an air attack more horrifying than the Iraqi tank retreat along Highway 80, 23 years ago. The carnage would be seen on both sides – while we on the home front would complain about our programmable thermostats not working and our internet service acting strangely due to the latest Russian web worm release.
Far better to stick with nut-job terrorists.
Russian soldiers suck more peni…#irony #campcomrade
Killing is killing and dead is dead.
Russia, especially if it dragged on into the winter when you will be fighting in -40C temperatures.
For me it’s a psychological thing. I’m deathly afraid of things that can kill me but not knowing who they are, where they are coming from, or what they are (i.e. ghosts, disembodied voices). It’s weird trying to describe it. But when I can at least see who I’m killing, no matter how big or strong, I am much more comfortable giving it my all.
