I have no idea about the quality of either.
But for an intangible factor – Montpellier is a cooler name, and has more dignity to it than Rennes. Rennes is but a single syllable, while Montpellier is three. It’s just more impressive sounding. Sort of like an audible feng shui.
I thought you were asking about the university in Montpellier, Vermont. That I know a little something about.
Not the one in France I’m afraid. Sorry.
I live in the UK and don’t know much about any french universities but I’ve heard of Rennes in association with Engineering and Science research.
Montpellier is in the south of France which has better weather and is by the seaside
Montpellier is not by the seaside but it’s extremely beautiful and interesting and the weather is certainly better than it is in Rennes. Go there. Who cares about the engineering department?
Oh wait, you do. Sorry, @zacklandium, there I go again with aesthetic values…..
