Why do some women hate it when they feel their thighs rub together when they walk?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) June 12th, 2014

I overheard some women talking among themselves where some say they hate it when they feel their thighs rubbing each other when they walk. Some are annoyed of it to the point they contemplate wacky diets or getting some lipo done. Others stated it as the reason they don’t wear dresses to minimize the rubbing feel. Why is that such a bother for some women? If it is, doesn’t that tell them that maybe they need to change their diet, activity level or both?

Hahaha! My thighs don’t rub together, they flat out stick together on a really hot day and I’m sweaty in a sundress.
Pass the margaritas, I’m not changing shit.

Another weight related question regarding women from @Hypocrisy_Central….....

@chyna I think you make this shit up.
You mean you are going to tell me you have never heard anywhere, at any time not one women, that you know or don’t know ever speak of this? Have you ever heard women, those you know, those you don’t ever speak of yeast infections, if and when they ever farted, boob jobs, STDs, or any such things, etc? If you never have I guess you are beyond unique.

Chafing
It hurts.
And really, dieting and working out will not make the problem go away for many women.

And absolutely, what @chyna said. Your questions about the anatomical issues of women are getting really f**king bizarre.

If more men wore skirts in hot weather, their thighs would chafe also. Try it for a few days and let us know what you think.

^ This is not Scotland.

^^ Then I guess women should post a paper on explaining the things that seem to have no reason then no one has to ask about them.

I have no idea. Nobody has ever told me they hate when their thighs rub together. As gailcalled wrote, if their thighs chafe it would be very uncomfortable. I’m sure the same would be true for men too.

Oops, I just clicked on my link. I should have checked before posting.
Chafing is the real link.
I guess nobody else linked, or it would have been mentioned.

Silly.

(That’s because we women are so familiar with chafing that we didn’t need to open it. )

Babies also hate it when their thighs chafe, I am told. That is aka diaper rash.

I wasn’t sure the OP was familiar with chafing. Or actual women, for that matter. ~

In @Hypocrisy_Central‘s defense, I actually had that exact conversation at breakfast with two girlfriends about three days ago. I was in a sundress and commented that I wanted to lose just enough weight that my thighs would not stick together at the very top when I walk. I put on about 15 pounds this winter and my goal is to unstick the thighs and not jiggle when I brush my teeth.
My girlfriends both sympathized.
Were you at the table next to me, @HC?

I, and most of the women in my family, are slightly knock-kneed, so even when we are in absolute fightin’ trim, our thighs rub together. My basic objection to HC’s Q is that he assumes ”...that maybe they need to change their diet, activity level or both?”.
In fact, @Hypocrisy_Central, why not simply ask the women on whose conversation you were eavesdropping? And perhaps suggest to them that they lose the weight? It would certainly save you some time and grief.

But, to be fair, also in @Hypocrisy_Central‘s defense, I have seen some very astute and intelligent questions from him, which makes the Qs like this just seem unworthy.

No, I was not at the table next to you, but if you and your friends had such a conversation, I can bet as we type someone, somewhere is having that discussion.

REALLY? Read the post before yours, isn’t that what @GloPro is saying to a degree? Unless all thighs rubbing come from being knock-kneed some women could alleviate the problem by making their thighs skinnier. If you have an opposing theory or argument to that please share it.

In fact, @Hypocrisy_Central, why not simply ask the women on whose conversation you were eavesdropping?
I was not eavesdropping. Sometimes people talk so loud you cannot drown them out; like those people on their cell on BART who talk so loud no matter what, by the time the trip is over you know all about their situation.

It is one of those questions someone is always curious about but never open their mouth to ask, same as “what does semen taster like if a person finishes in your mouth?”, or “If I am sucking a guy and she shoots cum in my mouth does it hit that little hanging thin in my throat causing me to choke?” Questions like those are only relevant if you are the one with the penis in your mouth, but it is a curiosity even if you never see yourself in the situation.

Well, that went in an odd direction.
