Can someone explain the psychology behind all of the likes I got on this pic?
A few days ago I posted this pic of Rick and I standing on a cliff with the mountains behind us. I rarely post pics of myself because I just don’t like the way I look anymore, but this one was OK.
I just got my 34th “like,” and I’m just floored! I’ve never received that many likes on anything before, and I don’t understand it! What’s there to like about it so much?

“Likes” from your friends and acquaintances? Perhaps, since you don’t normally post pics of yourself, they are rewarding you for actually putting one up.
It’s a nice picture, you both look relaxed and you look like you are enjoying your selves out in nature and being together.
I don’t know you personally but yes, it IS a worth liking pic! You look bright, peacefully happy and Rick looks cool. Your shirt is spring – colored and the place looks gorgeous! You still wondering why you got the likes?
Thank you @ZEPHYRA. I guess I needed to step back and look at it that way. You know, people at the reunion were saying that I seemed happier than they’d ever seen me. Things that make you go hmmmmm…..
Looking at it a different way, it kind of looks like we’re some how floating in the air, too.
Plus the wind-blown hair effect gives a windy excitement to the scene!
Uhmm…it’s the Hawaiian shirt-? : ) heh heh
People like photos that gives them a great feeling and that’s what your pic is @Dutchess_III…
Cool. My 14 year old grandson snapped it.
Y’all like that shirt! Well, but of course. It’s silk. Goodwill silk!
It’s a very nice pick, I don’t know you personally but there’s that true happiness in that pic and perhaps your friends and family likes to see your happiness.
I always get more likes if I post pictures of me or talk about my day. A lot more likes than if I talk about horror movies or submit some meme or joke.
It’s a nice picture, you both look happy, and you and Rick are a cute couple.
I wondered if that had something to do with it. People instinctively respond to people, more than anything else.
I had to poke Rarebear though. I said, “32 likes! Get with the program, Rarebear!”
@Dutchess_III They seem to. I guess people are just really interested in what you’re up to.
It’s happy, carefree, colourful and very real photo. That is why.
It’s a great sharing of a personal highly satisfied moment. People want that in their lives. You just gave it to them.
All great photography will evoke some degree of emotion within the viewer. It’s how we poke each other to ensure we’re still alive.
It’s a really good picture, and you said you rarely post pictures of yourself. They’re probably all happy to see you.
Well, that’s just cool you guys. I’m looking at it going, “What the hell happened to me?!” and you guys are seeing all of the other. That’s nice.
My 14 year old grandson took it. Well, I positioned us, with all the view behind us, and told him to take the pic.
PS…Rarebear finally chimed in! He said, “Okay! Okay!” and gave it a like. :)
