What is CD+G? (details inside)

Asked by 2davidc8 (10189points) July 7th, 2014

I recently saw and ad (I don’t remember if it was for software or hardware) that mentions converting to/from a CD+G format. I believe the CD part is the usual, that is, it refers to compact disc. But is CD+G something new?

CD+G is an extension of the compact disc standard that can present low-resolution graphics alongside the audio data on the disc when played on a compatible device. CD+G discs are often used for karaoke machines, which utilize this functionality to present on-screen lyrics for the song contained on the disc.

^^What @dina_didi said. We bought a karaoke player about 15 years ago. It specified CD-G to display lyrics through a video outlet.
