Do you have a favorite scene from the film Love Actually?
Mine is when Colin Firth’s character proposed to Aurelia in Portuguese. I found it very romantic that he learned a new language just to propose (though he certainly hoped she would respond positively, in which case he would continue to use Portuguese with her). I also really liked how the Prime Minister, mere moments after meeting Natalie, was already quite taken with her, causing him to mutter that it was “so inconvenient.”

I liked the scenes of people meeting each other at the airport. Each vignette was different yet the meaning was the same. “I’m so happy to see you.”
Hmm, I have absolutely no memory of that movie, which I have seen
When Hugh Grant, in socks, is bounding down the steps of 10 Downing Street singing a 1970s rock song, oblivious to his surroundings… until the stern-face grey-haired secretary sees him and frowns.
Reminded me of Ferris Beuller’s Day Off.
Did you know that the kid is in GoT? Or, was – they killed off his character (no surprise).
@LuckyGuy – damn, wrong movie – I meant Risky Business. But you got the idea.
Actually, my favourite scene is one of the unhappiest in the movie, but it demonstrates what a fine performer Emma Thompson is and also a different side of love to the other plot lines in the film.
Just in cases.
When the best friend who is in love with Kiera Knightly goes to her door and shows her the cards.
That is one of my favorite movies of all time. I honestly can’t pick just one scene.
The scene that @muppetish chose was extremely heartbreaking. Made worse by the fact that Alan Rickman was the bad guy : ( I wanted to slug him!
I adore this movie, and there’s hardly a scene that’s not a favorite. But two of them are the proposal scene in the Italian restaurant and the shots of real people greeting each other at the airport at the end. Brings tear to me eyes every damned time.
@thelurker I’m afraid Grant was immediatey taken to liking Natalie for the shallowest of reasons. Cheekboobs, er, I mean cheekbones. :)
@mazingerz88 Physically attracted, yes, but I think he liked her irreverent way of speaking and then her vulnerability in embarrassment, too.
The scene with Natalie and High Grant kissing behind the curtain at the Christmas Pageant (and the curtain opening) has to be one of the better ones as well. What aplomb!
