What is the name of this movie?

Asked by Dutchess_III (47071points) July 11th, 2014

A WWII battleship ends up going through some time warp and ends up in “present day,” present day being the 1980’s at the time. I remember an F16 (I think it was) buzzing them and freaking everyone out.

I thought it was a modern one going back to WWII? That was the final countdown.

I believe I’ve seen it, but my memory is too sludgey right now. Was there some sort of weird storm which slams them and….
oooo oooo I think he’s right! Is that right?

@talljasperman wins the cookie. That’s it. Thank you.

@talljasperman is correct. It is the Philadelphia Experiment. Tesla installs giant Tesla Tubes on an aircraft carrier in an experiment to make it invisible to German radar (this is WWII). When they turn everything on, the ship not only goes radar invisible, it becomes really invisible (to the nekkid eye).
And not only that, but the surge of energy from the Tesla Coils creates a rift in the space time continuum connecting 1942 with 1982….etc….

@ARE_you_kidding_me I added The Final Countdown to my Netflix list too. Thanks.

While you’re on the theme of WWII and time travel, check out Forever Young starring the once young Mel Gibson. Spoilers in the link.

Heck, it’s answered, we just as well have some fun with it.
