What military uses might this blacker-than-black material have?

Asked by Dutchess_III (47127points) July 14th, 2014

Fascinating.

“A British company has produced a material so black it absorbs all but 0.035 percent of visual light, which is the new world record apparently.”

They also say ” Then there are the military uses that the material’s maker, Surrey NanoSystems, is not allowed to discuss.”

So let’s guess. Coating for the Stealth Bomber comes to mind. I wonder if it has any radar absorbing capabilities?

Oh, and on toilet seats! Imagine what one of those $600.00 toilet seats would cost with this special coating!

I would also assume that it has applications in stealth technology.

Cool looking black uniforms like this or this?

Submarines, not to mention deep sea military installations. Underwater tunnels could be built leading from continent to continent
R&D comes up with all sorts of wild ideas. I got to witness the result of some of their wild thinking.
If it absorbs light, it must also absorb heat. Let’s use our thinking caps for that one.
