Do you sometimes wish you could fall asleep and just never wake up again?

Asked by ZEPHYRA (21750points) July 26th, 2014

When it all gets too much do you want to doze off and not wake up.
Have you ever wished for that to happen?

Many, many times. The first in my recollection was the eve of my 12th birthday, when I prayed for God to have mercy and take me in my sleep. I lost my faith when I woke up the next morning. It has been many years since I felt this way, though. Now I actually describe myself as happy, which was unimaginable to me for most of my life.

If you are having a personal crisis, I do hope that you have a good support system in place, and know the agencies that can help you, As always, you know that you can reach out to the collective for insight and advice on the situations that are overwhelming you. Hang in there!

Many times in recent years but it’s getting better. I’m reworking my life.

For almost five years I worked 80 hours a week between two jobs. I felt that way almost every night.

I did for many years, beginning when I was in grade school. I am evidence that if you live long enough, having been kind and loving for scores of years, your wish will be to wake up.

No, but after reading the posts above, I think you are all heroes.

No.

@ZEPHYRA: I’ve noticed that lately, many of your questions seem to indicate that you are having some significant problems. I hope you are ok. Heed @hearkat‘s post above.

Yes, many times. However, I have always been glad to have woken up.

You can work through this, @ZEPHYRA, I wish for you wellness of spirit.

It seems that there are a lot of brave and amazing people here who have been through so much and come out on the other side.

Yes, all the time, because I love sleeping :)

@ZEPHYRA For me, it’s been a roller coaster ride but the bumps are just getting a little bit easier to handle.

Hope it gets a little easier for you soon too.

Given that option, I’m not certain that I wouldn’t go in for a little nap. I’m not bitter, it’s just that life is so…tiresome.

Peace be with you, @ZEPHYRA. The highs really are worth the lows and all that damned marking time in between.

No, I still enjoy life, and am anxious to see what every day brings.

When it’s my time to “shuffle off this mortal coil,” I would love to go that way.

Often enough. And if reincarnation exists, I want to come back as a pillow.

Lately, yes. I have been living with insane stress for the last 17 months, it has taken it’s toll on my normally enthusiastic and cheerful personality style and for the 1st time ever in my life I have thought about “plan B.”
It’s a double edged sword though, if I died in my sleep my poor cats might go for days without care. I think I’ll just opt for all of us going to sleep in the bathroom with a couple BBQs burning. lol

I try to stay asleep but eventually I get hungry and need to pee.

More often than sometimes.

All the time.

Never. I feel there is too much to do and too many people depending upon me.

@ZEPHYRA You are smart, articulate, sensitive and caring. I am confident you can ride out this wave. Breathe… Just Breathe…
