Did someone get some of the lyrics in this song wrong?

Asked by Dutchess_III (47127points) July 29th, 2014

Nutbush City Limits

I noticed this because the twins and I started a “game,” where we listen to this song (and about 3 others) while I spin them around in the chair to the beat of the music. Needless to say, I’ve heard it, and read the lyrics A LOT over the last few months. Now Zoey likes it too.

It seems to me that, in a couple of places, the word Tina sings is not what the lyrics on the screen show, and I wonder about that. Did someone get “official” lyrics from somewhere, and Tina just changed it up when she sang the song, or did someone hear something differently than what I’m hearing when they put this YouTube together?

There are only about four words that sound wrong. This isn’t an earth shattering deal, obviously, but it’s been a curiosity to me for several months, so I thought I’d present this to the Fluther Music Board for review.

Seemed to match up for me. Where do you think the lyrics are wrong?

OK, at 1:02 the lyrics read “They call it Nutbush (good ole town)...“_ I think she sings “Little ole’ town,” not “Good ole’ town.” ... Well, just listened to the song again and hell. I guess that’s the only one!

There were some I thought were wrong but then I listened more carefully and decided they were OK. Like, “Motorcyle not allowed in it…” Sounds more like, “Motorcyle not alloweded,’ which would be more in keeping with the vernacular, but it could go either way so I’m still out on that one.
