What would Samuel Barber think of these adaptations of his most famous work?

1) thrilled that someone is finding his work playable and enjoyable 30+ years after his death.

2) He would probably want a cut of the copyright proceeds…if the recording made any money.

I think that he and Pachelbel could have some interesting chats.

I don’t know how Barber would feel (probably happy) but I can tell you how I feel about Adagio for Strings.

I heard it for the first time 50 years ago when I was lying in a hospital bed recuperating from surgery. In my weakened state, I thought that achingly beautiful music was signaling my approaching demise. I’ve never forgotten that experience and have loved that piece ever since
