What do you think of Cards Against Humanity?
Cards Against Humanity is a game that some call “clever satire” and others call an “excuse to be a smug, pseudo-intellectual asshole”. (The quoted phrases are from personal conversations)
Have you played? What’s your take on the game? Positive? Negative? Why?

I enjoy the game. My husband and I have played it with our adult sons and we all laughed at our ridiculous answers. good times
I enjoy playing it, but I’ll admit that it was difficult for me to say certain things the first time I played. Honestly, if people don’t like it, I won’t judge. I can see why it might just be way too much for some people.
It’s funny, and anybody who doesn’t see the humor in it is a smug, pseudo-intellectual asshole themselves.
I recall 2004, when it was Cards against the Red Sox, and the Cards came up short when the Sox swept ‘em in four.
Yep, nothing says “smug, pseudo-intellectual asshole” like answers such as “a big black dick” and “primal ball-slapping sex”.
Never heard of it, going by the brief details it sounds like a game, nowt to get excited about on either scale.
I think it’s great. Sure it can be crass and offending, but it requires you to use your brain in many ways. Personally I think it’s a lot more fun with people you know though.
Also, David Bowie riding a tiger made out of lightning.
Another is a series of “so what?” activities.
It might even be my cup of tea – it sounds like it could be fun. But there will be some who won’t like it. So what?
We are fortunately to live in a civilization where each person can choose his friends and (within a broad spectrum with few limitations) his actions. I personally approve of some and disapprove of others. So if people want to play this game, so what?
Frankly, this is probably more intellectually stimulating and exciting than, for example, reading the Bible. But again, so what?
Ah, Fluther, gotta love it. When a question asks for specific opinions on a thing, there are always a couple who have to express that they find it not worth expressing an opinion. Which kind of makes a statement of its own kind.
Thank you to those who expressed actual opinions.
I really enjoy it, when played with the right people. It’s like any social-intensive game though—it can become a douchey pissing contest, or offensive, or just out-right boring.
I will note that my friends and I have removed a few more outright offensive cards (date rape, the hardworking mexican, etc.)
I have found that I can only enjoy it in situations such as @rory describes, with trusted friends and a few cards out of play. Larger groups of casual acquaintances can make the fun go south fast.
I just want to say that three days ago I had never even heard of this thing (I may have heard the phrase, without an ounce of recognition about what it was all about).
And now… I’ve found a place where you can play online. A new timesuck; that’s just what I needed! (And no moderation.)
