Has your spouse/significant other ever discovered old emails, letters etc between you and an old flame from long ago?

Asked by ZEPHYRA (21750points) August 3rd, 2014

Obviously that relationship would be history by now and there would be no contact whatsover. Has such a thing happened to you? Was your partner’s reaction calm or did jealousy creep up even though that flame has died long ago? Did YOU perhaps discover anyhing like that and what did you say?

No, but it used to be that any mention of an ex would through Rick in to a rage. But he finally got over that.

Well I have a couple of my ex’s on my Facebook friends list, so I don’t think my SO would be particularly bothered if I still had old letters or e-mails or whatnot.

No, but recently I was cleaning my basement and started going through old cd’s . I remembered when I was younger I would hide money in the booklets so I figured I’d check. Found an old naked picture of an ex. My fiance didn’t react in a jealous way or anything like that. That relationship is LONG dead, what is there to be jealous about?

I know @El_Cadejo. I guess it depends on how secure your SO is.

Yes, and she doesn’t give a crap.

@Dutchess_III I suppose, but in IMO jealousy has no place in a serious relationship. If we can’t trust each other we have no business staying with each other.

I agree @El_Cadejo. But people who go through their S/O’s text and emails and stuff tend to be very, very insecure and probably have a lot of failed relationships behind them.

Not that I’m aware of; but he could and so could I, because we have all our passwords in a shared database. The point is that we trust each other completely, and don’t worry about ancient history. I’ve been on both sides of the insecurity mess in relationships, so this drama-free life is especially sweet.
