We explored Cambria and loved it. We would love to explore more small coastal towns. We love Big Sur, Lucia, Aptos, Carlsbad to Del Mar. Half Moon Bay.

Morro Bay. I lived there for a short time and I loved it.
Small towns? Try Pt Reyes Station CA, Bodega Bay, CA, Mendocino CA, Eureka CA, Coos Bay OR. Sequim WA. Anacortes WA.
My favorites on the East Coast are Rockport MA, Duxbury MA, Camden ME, Bar Harbor ME.
I could get lost in those towns for days.
San Luis Obisbo is pretty cool and I also like Pismo Beach.
< is an australian person so cannot comment much on America: the coast of oregon is lovely. However, ... There are some really fine little beach towns around here.
There are so many in New England. Anywhere in the Cape—Hyannis, Provincetown, Falmouth, Martha’s Vineyard.
Block Island, Plymouth, Providence (city, but a small one), Newburyport, Bar Harbor, Portsmouth.
Lots and lots. I really liked the area near Fort Bragg, California.
There are some cool coast towns on the Texas coast (Galveston and south), and also on the Gulf of Mexico (east and west of Gulfport and Biloxi).
Padre Island south of Texas is lovely and calm. Beach Haven, New Jersey was nice but I haven’t been there in decades. Probably has an overpass by now.
We used to go to Rockport/Fulton area on the Texas coast years ago. Haven’t been there in years but they were nice laid back beach towns back in the day. Nothing fancy but good seafood at small mom/pop restaurants.
Also, thoroughly enjoyed short stays in Homer (got some great photos) and Talkeetna Alaska Skagway was a little too touristy.
Astoria, OR and Cannon, OR Beach are my favorite. I also really like Homer, AK, and the Portsmouth, NH / Kittery, ME / York, ME area.
Watch Hill, RI and Bristol, RI.
